19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

So $4000 worth of rifles plus over 100 rounds according to some on here plus body armor.

So $4,600-5000 for an 18 year old kid who was so poor the other kids mocked him for it? Something isn't adding up.
Not that hard to save up six grand if you have zero expenses and a desire to do something terrible

As long as people are blaming inanimate objects and not looking for solutions this entire debate is pointless.

In nature you recognize a consistent theme. The weak will be culled from the herd by predators who are among them. You need to take steps to secure the ones who cannot defend themselves. This could include guards at schools or whatever the community decides. Let’s be honest, the community should be in charge of how their schools are protected, not some bureaucrat hundreds of miles away.

Actual quote from your first article "The Violence Project database doesn’t show a clear correlation with body armor and the number of victims."

The second article also provided 0 data.

Would you like to try again?
LOL. Not necessary.

1) I stated that body armor was increasingly being used in the commission of violent crimes.

2) You requested data which confirmed that.

3) I linked two articles, including this one ...

Buffalo is latest mass shooting by gunman wearing body armor

... and you cherry-picked one line from it, which you believe helped your case, but I never said a word concerning :

"a correlation with body armor and the number of victims."

The number of victims will depend entirely on where each shooting is taking place.

I only said that body armor was increasingly being used in the commission of violent crimes, and this portion of that article from up above does confirm that :

"At least 21 mass shooters over the last four decades have worn some kind of body armor - and the majority of those were within the last 10 years, according to a database maintained by The Violence Project; a nonpartisan research group that tracks gun violence."

Lol okay. So that’s your growing trend? Something that’s happened 21 times in 40 years?

If you’re attempting to show a trend and only have 21 cases in 40 years or even if all 21 happened in 10 years, you’ve not shown much of a trend at all.

Among such serious crimes, as mass shootings? Yes, that is a disturbing trend. Especially so, when we have had two mass shooters this month alone, responsible for killing 30 people - They had two things in common :

1) An AR-15 style rifle.

AND ...

2) THEY BOTH WORE BODY ARMOR.

They both went to public schools too. I can’t say I’m impressed.

Would an inability to obtain an AR or body armor have stopped either of them?

I still don’t buy the skepticism here.

My kid is in middle school (not old enough to drive or work), and regularly has $500 in his sock drawer from cutting yards, watching pets, etc.

That moron cannot read a room at all. Abbott is going to wipe the floor with his idiot ass in Nov. I’m actually glad it’s Francis up against Abbott that virtually guarantees his re-election.
Yeah ... Abbott's response has been so much better.

I loved the part where Abbott praised the police for having the courage to confront an active shooter ... It would have been even better if there had actually been a word of truth to what he was saying. LOL.

Some things stand out to me as we get more information.

We really don't need any new legislation to have prevented this. Almost everything that went wrong in this case is covered by existing law or policies.

  1. The idiot who propped the door open. There is absolutely no point in creating a "secure" zone if you leave the door wide open. People talk about having single entrance schools. Great, put all the fish in the barrel and then leave it wide open so a lunatic can enter and nobody can leave. Simply enforcing that doors be closed, alarms on them, etc could solve this in most cases.
  2. Having a trained, armed and body armored SRO with a ballistic shield on site in a central place (he doesnt carry it around). Basically, having an armed security guard on site who is actually checking to see if doors are closed and can trigger a lockdown when they see a threat. You would be amazed at the mental shift for these lunatics between shooting unarmed kids and having someone fire back at you. When only the bad guy is armed, he has a lot more courage to do bad things. Guarantee you that if everyone knew all schools had armed guards, few idiots would go there to shoot it up. A handy list of incidents that would have been mass shootings but the SRO quickly killed or subdued the perp.
  3. Cops actually doing what they are supposed to do. It is hard to know why or the extent of the failure of local cops at the moment but had responding cops simply followed existing protocols established since Sandy Hook, this likely would have been a far less lethal incident. The idea that there were that many cops assembled outside and the shooter was not fully engaged fighting for his life but rather still killing kids, tells you that these cops should be actually horsewhipped by the parents of that school.
  4. How in the heck does the shooter wreck his car outside and start firing into the place next door FOR 12 MINUTES and somebody in the school doesn't trigger a lock down?
  5. Obviously this kid had no business buying a gun of any sort. While people are denying it, I will bet you a ton of money that when they dig, they will find this kid had serious mental issues that had been reported but were unaddressed but none of that shows up when you go to buy a gun because its sealed as a juvie. THAT MUST CHANGE AND IS A MAJOR GAP in our gun legislation. I understand the desire to protect minors from their own stupid mistakes but lets be serious here, if you want to buy a gun and are under 25, your juvie criminal and mental health records MUST be part of the background check. That will eliminate a lot of this gap that lets kids who clearly demonstrated problems when young of being able to run out and buy a gun the moment they are 18.
If we took care of these things that are already on the books, this would have hardly made the news. Simply having an armed SRO with shield onsite, cops actually doing their job and making juvie records open for gun checks would make school shootings almost non-existent. So why dont we talk about that instead of how to restrict the freedoms of the law abiding? because it wouldnt give the left more power and make the politicians seem like they are doing something.

Is your kid also mocked for being extremely poor and wearing cheap clothing?
