19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

Let’s hear what Governor Bowl Brother would have done to keep this mentality ill person from illegally using a gun to commit mass murder. Also what has our President done to prevent our military from murdering innocent children in drone strikes? That got swept under the rug awfully quickly.
How about let's stay on topic. I'm not the Governor of Texas, and I don't claim to have the answers. Gov. Abbott's response to these mass shooting incidents in the past has been to make it even easier to both purchase a gun, and to carry a gun in Texas. It hasn't helped to prevent these shootings from happening.

He certainly did. Starting with 1st degree murder, which is still a crime in Texas. It should be pointed out that last year's "Constitutional Carry" bill signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbot, doesn't cover this idiot, who was under 21 and carrying a rifle.

However, it is also fair to point out that Texas now leads the nation in spree shooting deaths over the last 5 years ....

Do you remember :
  • 26 people were murdered in the Sutherland Springs Church shooting in November of 2017?
  • 10 people were murdered at Sante Fe High School in May of 2018?
  • 20 people were murdered at a Walmart store in El Paso in August of 2019?

This latest shooting, involving 21 more deaths, makes for a combined total of 77 people that have been murdered in the state of Texas across 4 separate incidents, in less than 5 years worth of elapsed time.

.... and thanks to Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas also has the laxest gun laws in the country.

You Can Now Carry A Handgun In Texas Without A License, Training Or Background Check

Everyone here will rush to Gov. Abbott's defense, and insist that he is in no way responsible for these shootings ... Okay, but what has he done to help prevent these incidents from occurring? If he has taken any action at all, it clearly hasn't helped.

Not arguing but asking what could he have done to prevent these incidents from occurring? That's the core question that gets glossed over. I'm not saying there is nothing that can be done but I certainly don't know what things they are and haven't heard many good, rational ideas.

But as you pointed out those actions to make it easier to purchase and carry don't apply to this incident so it's hard to say he's made things worse.

It hasn’t caused them either

How does a governor prevent crazy, irresponsible, criminals from doing crazy, irresponsible, crimes???

I'm sure kindergarten teachers are just dying to play Rambo. Like a bunch of 25 year old women who enjoy teaching little kids want to go to the gun range after work. After buying all their school supplies they want to go spend even more money they dont have on ammo. That's seriously the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Or maybe we should hire you to teach lol.
I’m sure those 25 year old kindergarten teachers are more than happy to just go to school and teach. Just like those teachers at Robb elementary did the morning of. I’d also be willing to bet that once the first shot rang out that every one of the teachers that were against arming teachers had a change of heart in a split second.

It’s easy to place judgement on someones opinions when you’ve never lived the tragedy those with the opinions are wanting to prevent. That is until you find yourself in said position with no way out.

2 of the 4 incidents you mentioned were public schools where a private citizen couldn’t carry a firearm legally anyway. Again the church was a terrible tragedy and would have been worse if not for an armed good citizen. Your post is ignorant at best and disingenuous at worst.

Same question to you I asked BB85.

So it sounds like you don't have any answers, but you seem to think that restrictions on guns would have prevented this shooting?

Okay, but what has he done to help prevent them from happening? These shootings clearly represent an ongoing problem in the state of Texas. They are continuing to occur, at an alarming rate. Republicans would definitely be blaming a Democratic Party Governor of Illinois for these shootings, if such mass shooting incidents had occurred in Chicago, instead of in Texas. There shouldn't be any question about that.

I think most level headed people blame the shooter.

... and you wouldn't be blaming either the Governor of Illinois or the Mayor of Chicago right now, if these mass shooting incidents had occurred in Chicago instead of in Texas? BULL $HIT!!!!!!!!!! Shootings which occur in Chicago are ALWAYS the fault of Democratic Party leadership according to the conservatives who post in this forum. If I'm disingenuous? Then you are a hypocrite.

Sandy Hook- Dem Governor
Heritage HS Conyers Ga -Dem Governor
San Bernardino- Dem Governor
Shooting at Asian Church last week- Dem Governor
Mass shooting at grocery store in Buffalo-You guessed it……..

Why can’t these gun control loving Dem Governors get their citizens under control?

If she actually said that, it's the only thing she has been right about in her life. TBH, I think the current crop of kids is maturing way later than previous generations. They don't seem to want to leave home until they're in their mid 20's or later, and they act like insolent little children.
Who raised them?

When you ask what has he done you imply there are known steps/actions he could have taken (but did not) that would prevent them from happening.

It's not too much to ask what at least some of those steps/actions are that he failed to take.

You should be in Davos. Are you one of these believers in "toxic masculinity" also?

Yes and no. Anything left unchecked can be toxic. Masculinity, femininity, religiosity, humanism, you name it. What makes it toxic is how it's used against others.

And individualism might not have been the right word in my comment, or maybe the rampant part. Unless we live in the woods with a sustainable food source and complete disconnection from society, we live in some form of community. Communities come with responsibilities. If we shirk our responsibilities while still demanding the rewards of community life, we're doing it wrong.

You do realize that you just proved a point of mine from post #1,142, right?
