19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

I would like to see all the facts when they come out. Evidently there was a SRO that engaged the shooter before he entered or right after, to no avail. Then the shooter barricades himself in a classroom with 40 minutes to do what he wants.

By all accounts this is a gender confused legitimate crazy kid with no known (at least at this time) professional shooting or tactical training that bests a trained SRO when entering the school and then manages to create a tactical nightmare scenario that allows him time to start shooting kids and teachers at will.

Again - I'm willing to wait on the facts. But right now it seems we are dealing with either a tactically proficient criminal or completely inept first responders.

It appears to be a lost individual who felt life wasn't worth living. So this person wasn't going to take out as many happy lives that were.

C’mon, Ricky…you’ve had the same training I have. There us no perimeter at an A/S scene; that’s the old Columbine mindset. It’s “one, two, go” or “one go” if the second responder is not there within seconds. The tactical key here is confront…contain…and THEN eliminate the threat. Every second counts.

I totally get the tactical scenarios in hostage or other standoff situations but as you say when people are dying right now waiting isn't a practical option. Even if all you do is put the shooter on the defensive temporarily that's probably saving lives.

2 officers were shot by him before he barricaded himself. I don’t understand if this was inside the school or outside. Outside I assume.

I can't find anything saying officers were shot prior to him entering the school.

Do you think every border patrol officer is trained how to defeat a locked barricades metal door with no tools?

Not even try? Everyone first on the scene with a weapon stood outside and let it happen once he was in the school. To say nothing of the fact that a trained officer couldn't stop a crazy gender confused kid with no known tactical or professional shooter training from entering.

Like I said, I'm willing to wait on all the facts before final judgement. But right now, it doesn't add up and at best there was a failure to protect in this situation.

So about 40% of ppl in the US report a firearm within their households. That number is actually down from the late 70s when it was around 51%. There are roughly 330million ppl in the US. To make things easy to follow Let's say there are 150 million legal individuals who can purchase and own firearms in the US. We know that in the 2020 elections 156 million ppl voted. If you are a Democrat then this is a safe number to use. 150 at 40% is 60 million. If 1% of those individuals who legally own firearms decide to go batsh!t crazy and perform evil acts of violence by shooting up large groups of people you would be looking at 600 thousand mass shooting incidents. Never said there aren't bad apples in the bunch and as a gun owner one of these incidents is one to many. The sentence isnt dismissive, it's pretty accurate and You are doing what you do best by twisting it to fit your needs. Please continue to play on train tracks.
I didn't twist anything. I posted a quote verbatim, and said that it appeared to be suggesting legally purchased guns, were not being used in shooting sprees. That is simply wrong. I stated that the Mandalay Bay shooter, Stephen Paddock, had legally purchased the firearms he used in the attack ... and I posted a link in support of that.

I stated a fact and then supported that fact with a source of information. If you consider that to be "twisting" anything, then your reading comprehension skills leave a lot to be desired.

So they did try to enter the classroom and got shot. You can’t never rely on emotional victims or witnesses to tell facts. It’s the emotional response of the mind to fill in gaps and assume a lot in these situations

It’s just a lot to process. People that were there are still processing what happened, but some people that have seen all the Avengers movies and live a 1000 miles away have every piece figured out.

And evidently once he got past the RO, he shot the two LEO's who followed him into the school.

Live updates: Texas school shooting at Robb Elementary

The gunman was able to enter the school "unimpeded" by any locks, Olivarez said, and gunfire was exchanged inside the school hallway between the gunman and officers who were right behind him.

Those two officers were shot, and then the gunman barricaded himself inside a classroom, Olivarez said. Officials are still trying to determine exactly how he barricaded himself inside.

Police face questions over response to Texas school shooting

Officials say he “encountered” a school district security officer outside the school, though there were conflicting reports from authorities on whether the men exchanged gunfire. After running inside, he fired on two arriving Uvalde police officers who were outside the building, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Travis Considine. The police officers were injured.

The officers were outside the building.

But a law enforcement official said that once in the building, the Border Patrol agents had trouble breaching the classroom door and had to get a staff member to open the room with a key. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk publicly about the investigation.

How ****ing long did it take them to ask for a damn key?

I'm not so sure about that anymore. I lean more on putting fathers back in the homes, restoring traditional family structure and going back to traditional values.

More cops and arming teachers is not going to do s^^t. We are in a spiritual war in this country right now.
Democrat led cities would look drastically different in a positive way.

No they were outside the building.

Ted, this was such a softball question. Isn't it because other countries have better doors on their schools?

Lots of conflicting reports. AP article I linked stated the officers engaged him outside the building.

I just saw that. No matter what the truth ends up being, there will be a lot of questions and 2nd guessing.
I'm still on the side that's having a hard time accepting any rationale for a 40 minute delay.
