19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

I honestly believe that's part of it. We're raising a generation of "victims".
To expound on this a little bit more, the MSM and the left basically make the crazed gunman out to be a victim as well, blaming the guns rather than the shooter himself. It's like their message is "the guns made him do it!". No, the guns were a tool in the wrong hands. Guns are not the problem. The problem is we need to identify these mentally ill/weak people before they act. We need to stop blaming inanimate objects and address the real issues.

We live in a world where we teach our kids to get offended by stupid things like their "preferred pronouns" and then people wonder how hurt feelings lead to horrendous massacres such as this. It's not the guns.
No truer words have been spoken! The victim mentally is the problem. Making excuses isn’t helping kids, it’s crippling them for late life when they need those skills to cope.

Depends. Had the shooter been a white guy with a shaved head….whew doggie

Nobody thinks it will happen to them, so at best only half-assed measures are put in place.
I think this is true as well. Most people have the mentality "that happens in other places. It could never happen here.". Then it does and they have no damn clue what to do.

There is more. And my theory has legs where as your claim that ease of access is the primary problem has been debunked numerous times.
Switzerland is a good example of why gun prevalence and ease of access are not the problem, at least not by themselves.

Throughout its complex history, the United States has crafted its own unique gun culture. Guns have multi-purpose functions in the United States. To some they are purely weapons of self-defense, to others they are merely collectible items, or even status symbols and/or signs of strength. Some Americans use them for recreational purposes, including the hunt of wild game, or the enjoyment of target practice. They are also symbols of freedom... the United States Constitution says its citizens have the right to own and bear them. It feels good to exercise freedoms.

For all you anti gunners-

Like it or not YOU are your own first responder. A guy that enters your area with the intent to kill you can’t be reasoned with. Your ONLY options are kill or be killed. Now I don’t wish this evil on anyone but I know for a fact that each of your minds would change in a split second on how you feel about guns the moment that guy squeezes his trigger for the first round. The average response time for 911 is 11 minutes. So convince me that you would rather take your chances dodging 223/556 rounds for 11 minutes vs taking your chances with a 9mm in your hands.

Very good post. It just goes to show that there is no easy fix either. Especially with the ease of converting semi autos to full autos being found on the internet. Also factor in, the massive amounts of illegal weapons that make their way into this country every year. It’s a truly complex problem. Banning high capacity magazines? Go on the dark web and get whatever you want. Live in a decent sized city? Guarantee with a little searching you can find all the high capacity weapons and ammo you want.

That narrative should say “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun and a set of balls “. Something was missing with those dudes

My whole issue with that mantra is if the cops, (who are trained for these situations) piss down their leg in fear when it’s time to use their weapon, what’s the point on relying on good guys with guns?

Some people understandably clam up when bullets start flying, but we clearly don’t know who clams up in situations like this. So as we see, good guys with guns didn’t help the children at all.

They want to ban high capacity magazines so that the god guys (with balls) will die while reloading because they all know damn well that the criminals will still have high capacity mags. You can’t stop that. And people wonder why I think Biden is anti American?

That’s why some of us are clamoring for armed vets instead of cops.

I understand where you’re coming from. I think this was just a bad example of the “good guys”. All the more reason that the battle tested retired military should be given first dibs on the job

The average citizen isn't going to be in a firefight with criminals. And if law enforcement isn't taking cover in a defensible position while reloading (and wouldn't they have access to the larger mags due to occupation?), then it's on them for staying in the line of fire.

And labeling someone as anti American because they have a different view of what the country could be is a little harsh. Chances are the Founders may find either of our views as lackluster as we view Biden's, but they wouldn't go so far as to say we're anti American.

I’m sorry but when our “president” is in the midst of the most violent first term we’ve seen in recent memory and trying his hardest to take the guns out of the good guys hands while arming our enemies and flooding our boarders with cartel? You can call it what you wish but I call that as Anti American as it gets.

That's the good thing about opinions; we can respectfully disagree.

I'm not an anti-gunner. I'm an anti-shooting children-er.

At this point, the only solution is to make entering our schools something similar to entering the Pentagon. If you don't have any business being there ... then you ain't gettin' in. If you have business being there, but are not authorized to be carrying a gun ... then your gun ain't gettin' in.

It goes without saying that this will be an enormously expensive undertaking.... but our government has wasted enormous amounts of money on far less important matters.

And I hate to say it, but you will always have losers like Charles Roberts, who shot up an Amish school in 2006. Why did he choose an Amish school, you ask? Because he knew that there wouldn't be any guns on the premises to stop him, and he also knew that there wouldn't be any phones on the premises to call for help. This gave him extra time to do what he really wanted to do the most - sexually abuse the young girls who were in the school, before shooting those girls in the face.

The sickos will find a way to perform their evil. That's just how it is.

No you can’t. It’s a fact that he’s trying to disarm us. It’s a fact that he’s flooding the boarders and it’s a fact that he armed our enemies. There is no denying that nor is there any reasonable explanation to it
