It's not a crisis and you have ZERO data to back up your claim. I have posted ACTUAL data that shows a huge spike in psychotropic drug prescriptions for adolescents. A spike that correlates with the increase in these events yet you refuse to even acknowledge the possibility of a link.

Not even 30 years ago it was even easier to obtain a gun than it is now, gun ownership was higher than it is now and these mass shooting events were almost unheard of. That's hard data showing it's not the ease of access being the cause.

Outside of shotguns I believe it should be 25 for rifles AND handguns. The reason I say that is because if we are going to put an age limit on gun purchases, it should be at a more mature age. 18 isn’t as mature as it used to be. Neither is 21. Hell, 25 is questionable but you gotta start somewhere.

That all being said I’ll argue that you shouldn’t need to be any age according to the constitution. 2-A doesn’t say “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed after the age of 18”.

I don't think there is one root cause. This problem resulted from a perfect storm of causes which have created a "gun culture." Ease of access is only one small part of it. I will post links to sources which describe this "American gun culture" in more detail.

I understand what they did. I understand it wasn't heroic. I understand it got more kids killed. I understand they chose to secure a crime scene rather than saving kids. Thanks but no thanks. If I ever find myself with my kid in that situation. I just won't say anything and will simply sprint into the building. I'd rather be killed going in rather than live being held back. The police are more worried about not letting the shooter get away rather than stopping the carnage.

I agree with your comments about maturity. On my 30th birthday a colleague in his 80s who I really looked up to told me, "boy... the hardest birthday for me was 30, because I knew when I screwed up I couldn't use the 'I'm just a dumbass kid' excuse anymore."

I don't GAS if this happened in Mayberry, every school and local law enforcement agency in the country should have these procedures and have them drilled. If that timeline is accurate its a colossal **** up by the school and sheriffs department.

Nobody thinks it will happen to them, so at best only half-assed measures are put in place.
