I don't want to sound ignorant, but why does he have to do mission work at this certain time in his life? If you knew you were going to be a top college prospect, and your goal was to make it to the NFL, then why couldn't you do mission work once you retired from the NFL? In fact, it would probably put more spotlight on the religion, and be a positive. Im not sure I understand why mission work has to be done at a specfic age...
It's simple. Some people have a more spiritual perspective on life, rather than concerning themselves with temporal (worldly) matters. It would show great humility and maturity for a big-time QB prospect like Jake Heaps to dedicate 2 years of his life to serving the Lord.
Whatever Mr. Heaps decides, we should all welcome his to Knoxville with open arms and wish him the best.
