You really think letting the Bush tax cuts expire on those making over, say, $500,000 a year will hurt the economy?

Yes, undoubtedly. The level of the impact is uncertain, but it does have an impact per marginal propensity to save theory (which is very widely accepted, maybe by all).

Carter did, under similar circumstances.

Bush won reelection and had had horrible approval ratings as well.

At the risk of being called a racist, I wouldn't be suprrised if the African American vote helped him out again.

How does a Christian use Christianity to get "revenge"? Please explain!

The second part of his post would appear to have nothing to do with Christianity... at least not that I can tell. It's interesting to me that there have been published articles that would indicate many businesses prefer hiring Christians partly because of their values (shall not steal, shall not lie, etc... and note: this does not mean that non-Christians may not possess similar values), but yet a Christian in the white house is viewed (by some) as a bad thing.

Against Kerry. Republicans have to pick a pretty bad candidate.

The only reason I think chances are still reasonable that Obama gets re-elected is because the republican candidates are horrible. Enter Christie and Obama becomes the underdog.

IMO, he's wrong on this. I strongly disapprove of the behavior but strongly approve of the right to follow your own convictions in your own home.

Rick Perry's "Moderation" On Gay Rights

The last link is the most interesting. One on hand he says it's none of our business - on the other he supports anti-gay laws.
Actually I think he said it was up to the states... pretty much what I say and what Obama has supported.

Also, what you refer to as "anti-gay" law, I would call protection of the rights of those who disagree with homosexuality with the exception of the sodomy law.

A parent has a right to decide who his scout troop leader will be. Scout troops have the right to respond to the demands of the parents... indeed they have an obligation. If groups like that and parents voluntarily associate with homosexuals as leaders then that's fine. Homosexuals do not have a right to foist themselves on those who do not want to associate with them.

Oddly, many of you who think Christians expressing their faith publicly or witnessing to someone is an egregious transgression think it is a homosexual's "right" to lead someone else's child in the scouts. Do you not see the inconsistency here?

He's a federalist that thinks each state should determine their own laws but is personally gay rights?

That's what I got out of it.......

He is against the government taking your money in personal income tax. But he's for the government intruding into your sex life.

He rejected a federal hate crimes law citing it created 'homosexuals as a protected class' while simultaneous trying to pass an anti-gay sex law (which was thrown out as unconstitutional).

no offense, but you need to get your head out of the sand.

He will lose VA, NC, FL, PA, OH, IN, and probably MI
We say that now, but we're not deciding whether people like him, we're deciding whether they like him more than the other guy.

Wait until the other guy is being painted as some right wing, poor hating extremist before guaranteeing his vicotry.

BTW, I think it is laughable to cite a group for proof that characterizes the American Family Association as a "hate group". That goes along the same lines as LG's argument that anyone who disagrees with him must be a racist.

you do see the hypocrisy in this though? I'm not talking about the religious aspect of this whatsoever - i'm speaking plainly on his track record - he supports small government in fiscal issues and bigger government in social issues.

If you're talking about me - I didn't cite any group. I cited his track record. He supports this while not supporting that - i don't care who reported it.

People wont/dont care about side issues. They care about jobs and the economy.

He literally has zero chance of winning

he tried to pass a sodomy bill - making it illegal to have gay sex. That doesn't sound like less government to me.

Me neither. But on the whole he doesn't seem to be a big gov't guy. Certainly the articles you cited are from people who want "big gov't" to come in a squash those who disagree with them. His refusal to do so makes him "anti-gay" in their view.

As we saw in the last election. People can vote against someone just as much as they can for for someone. Last election was a vote against Bush and the GOP. This next election may be the opposite. But it sure would help if the GOP could put someone out there who was worth a damn
