Me neither. But on the whole he doesn't seem to be a big gov't guy. Certainly the articles you cited are from people who want "big gov't" to come in a squash those who disagree with them. His refusal to do so makes him "anti-gay" in their view.

I'm not arguing the articles point of view though. I just don't like those who claim to be pro-freedom..but support less freedom for things they disagree with.

Oddly enough LG... many "fundamentalists" that I know say they shares that pov, but based on their actions clearly do not.

fyp

(And incidentally, ergo the criticism so many have of Christians as absurdly hypocritical).

Ignoring their disapproval of his views on big gov't, his support for anti-gay laws are all the proof they would need to paint him anti-gay. Now I don't care what his beliefs are - but when you try and pass an unconstitutional law for the sake of your beliefs - you're anti-(insert term).

Pardon me. He supported a sodomy law that was thrown out as unconstitutional.

He said he thought the law was appropriate.

He's also said his view is basically let's the states decide - the same view Obama holds as of last check.

Not a fan of the 10th amendment?

LOL. Whenever a politician favors something he knows has no prayer of being adopted at the federal level, suddenly that issue (and usually just that one) is a states' rights issue.

Especially if that politician so happens to be governor of a very conservative state, where other politicians with only a little less sense than he openly talk about secession if they don't get their way.

I can understand that some people simply prefer to remain uneducated, dim, scared, and suspicious of everything they don't personally approve of. But why they then have to try to keep the rest of us retarded in our growth as a society is beyond me. Guess they want the company.

Kind of like you and racism and how you are stuck in the 1950s?

At least we're getting the true colors of our liberal open-minded friends here.

I am.

And I personally think marriage laws are a matter for the states.

But I arrive at that decision because marriage has traditionally been viewed in the law as a local governance issue. I don't take that position because I couldn't get my way on it in Washington, which is what the far right has done with these social issues once they started losing at the federal level.

Abortion? Once Roe came down, suddenly it was a states' rights issue. Marriage? Once DOMA fell apart and the folks in Texas couldn't shut down gay marriage in California, suddenly its a states' rights issue.

Not in the least.

Why do you even care?

So you would support a law that would keep homosexuals from having sex? I'm sorry but that's none of our business. That's why I care. I'm sick of politicians being pro freedom - as long as they agree with the issue.
