Our schedule is fairly favorable this year compared to last. Here is how I see it. I've broken it down by how tough the opponent is expected to be.

NC State--medium WIN

Georgia State--easy WIN

Florida--tough, but a home game TOSS-UP

Akron--easy WIN

Georgia--tough LOSS

--open date

Mississippi State--tough. Could have been a let down game if we had played MS right after Georgia. Having two weeks to get our focus back is huge. WIN

Alabama--tough, but a home game LOSS

South Carolina--tough, but this will be SC's 9th game in a row. They play LSU the week before. TOSS-UP

Troy--easy WIN

Missouri--tough WIN

Vanderbilt--medium WIN

Kentucky--easy WIN

They are also sitting at fewer than 70 scholarship players. Sound familiar?

This is what I can't get past. It was a close game last year... this year we have more depth; they have less. I'm not saying we'll win, but a loss isn't guaranteed.

I believe that Georgia's depth will cost them the east. All those heavies get tired.

According to Getyopopcornready...

East

1. Tennessee - 10-2 (6-2)
2. Florida - 9-3 (6-2)
3. Georgia - 9-3 (5-3)
4. South Carolina - 6-6 (3-5)
5. Missouri - 6-6 (3-5)
6. Vanderbilt - 4-8 (1-7)
7. Kentucky - 3-9 (0-8)

West

1. LSU - 11-1 (7-1)
2. Alabama - 11-1 (7-1)
3. Arkansas - 9-3 (5-3)
4. Mississippi State - 8-4 (4-4)
5. Auburn - 6-6 (3-5)
6. Texas A&M - 6-6 (2-6)
7. Ole Miss - 4-8 (1-7)

Notes
- Florida loses to Tennessee and LSU
- Tennessee loses to Bama and Georgia
- Georgia loses to Florida, Missouri and Auburn
- LSU loses to Arkansas
- LSU over Tennessee in SECCG

UGA is going to hammer Mizzou. By far, UT's best hope of winning the East rides on beating UGA in Athens. The second best is beating Bama at home and hoping for help from UF, Aub, or USCe.

I'm going to feel so sorry for some of you and the people that love you when we lose to Florida

That's a pretty pathetic attitude. Even UF fans are saying UT is in great shape to beat the Gators this year.

If they do not get it done this year, the wait could be very, very long... as in when Tn HSFB catches up with Florida.

My thoughts exactly.

I've apparently been out of the loop. What happened with Georgia?

According to their chart at UGASports.com - Georgia Football Scholarship Numbers , they are sitting at 71 scholarship players plus between 7-9 walk-ons who have been awarded scholarships (four last year and seven last week, two of which are "renewals" - I think 7 is the right number). Two incoming freshmen have not yet reported to camp.

Four defensive starters (and possibly more non-starters?) have been suspended for between 2-4 games.

I thought they had some guys injured as well, but I can't find any info on that. Maybe I was thinking about last year.

How is that a "pathetic" attitude?

I was simply saying that should Florida handle us this year like they have the past few years, this place is going to have a meltdown.

You don't have to monitor the board and then act so appalled because someone doesn't share your opinion.

You actually said "when" Florida beats us

I think MSU,Fla,and Mizzou are all toss up games with us losing to MSU. I think we probably lose to UGA, bama, and USCe for an 8-4 record. If we get a few breaks, we might sneak out one more win but that would be about it.

I've apparently been out of the loop. What happened with Georgia?

Whole lot of suspensions and dismissals on defense, some on offense:

Safety Baccari Rambo predicted out around 4 games
Linebacker Alec Ogletree predicted out around 4 games
Cornerback Sanders Commings out 2 games
Georgia LB Chase Vasser has been suspended for the first two games
(Cornerback Branden Smith was expected to receive 1 game, but has no suspension issued)
Running Back Isaiah Crowell dismissed from team
Cornerback Nick Marshall dismissed from team
Cornerback Chris Sanders dismissed from team
Cornerback Jordan Love transferred

or alternatively, from a UGA fan:

Cordy Glenn- completed eligibility
Ben Jones- completed eligibility
Bean Anderson- completed eligibility
Bruce Figgins- completed eligibility
Orson Charles- left early to the NFL
Carlton Thomas- transfered
Isaiah Crowell- dismissed
No other suspensions that I remember. Those are the guys that were contributers but are now gone.

On defense we lost:
DeAngelo Tyson- completed eligibility
Brandon Boykin- completed eligibility
Bacari Rambo- suspension pending
Alec Ogletree- suspension pending
Sanders Cumming- 2 game suspension
Branden Smith- 1 game suspension
Jordan Love- transfered
Nick Marshall- dismissed

They were down enough that they had to move one of their starting WRs to either just playing DB or they made him a two-way player.

It will be a fun year to watch the Vols. Hopefully everyone can stay healthy. If they were all healthy last year things would of been a lot different.

Also since are schedule is a lot eaiser this year than past years I agree we should be around the 8-4 on the low end or 10-2 on the higher end of W-L.

I don't think Florida is a toss up game anymore. Just saw a article that their QB sustained a serious arm injury.

He was one of two QBs competing for the starting job...and this is the guy who was pretty much going to be the backup as of currently

No, of course not. And you know that I'm not saying that. My main argument is that this team isn't that much different than last years. Hunter should be back (hopefully all season), but I don't think he's worth 5 wins. No one has seen Patterson play in the SEC, so I am wary of his playmaking until I see him play.

We have a new Def co whom has coached in the SEC before. A new RB coach that did a pretty good job at USCjr. Less youth and more experience. I don't see 10 wins but I believe 9 is a great possibilty. I don't think we lose to Florida. They have 1 qb now, right?

With the way the past couple seasons have went I don't call any game "easy win"

I say 8-4 is a realistic number, I'd be pleased with that.

As long as we make progress.

I would be pleased with that as well. BUT with dropping LSU and Arkansas, and the news about UF that leaves GA and Bama for the hardest games. We shall see, it will be interesting.

I say if the do not go at least 8-4 changes need to be made.

8 wins is likely going to be the difference between whethe or not he keeps his job

And also, the news about UF wasn't about their starter
