Think Butler as in Butler basketball. Two national championship games in the last two years. Did they do it with a bunch of one and dones? Nope. They did it with a core group of solid players playing for three and four years who were coached up and played as a team, not as five one year wonders.

Maybe this is your new coach's vision and intent. Give him time, as in three or four years.

The "old" way got you where you are now.

All I read from this thread was the first page. Did I avoid a bunch of VN stargazing idiocy/"Pearl in 2014"/Pearl best coach ever/Cuonzo sucks and I could do better/general stupidity?

..and with respect to the stars of recruits. Many times a kid will go from one star to three or from two to four during their senior year. A good evaluator can sometimes grab one of these kids before he "blows up".

Remember its just a verbal now, how would it be if that kid sees all these comments about him here and decides that maybe UTK wasn't the right place for him. They do read these boards. Try to help your coach, not shoot him in the foot before his first game there.

Averaged 10 points a game as a junior! Wow, that's amazing ---- not really...

Heck R. Woolridge averaged 19.2 ppg as a junior in high school.

Hope he turns into a find. I'll trust coach to make a good pickup. That being said basketball rankings are usually pretty accurate . I hope the other 2 or 3 recruits are highly rated. We need talent.

I'm in wait-and-see mode on Martin. He took Missouri State from worst to first in the MVC in 3 years, and helped Matt Painter recruit several good players to Purdue.

I played against McBee even... I've seen him drop 40 before more than once. That alone raises your average 3 or 4 points by itself in high school.

thats what I have to trust...otherwise Im just like most TN fans...fickle and impatient. Although I feel we have a right to be fickle and impatient because of this school, its facilities, its fan base, etc.....we offer a hell of a lot as a campus, and to play/coach for UT should be a big deal.

Wait a minute. So the people that do not think that we will win with Martins recruits are dumb. But the people who think we will be in the NCAA tourney soon (with THESE recruits) are the smart ones. :loco:

I'll wait and see too. I like CCM. He seems to be building a program right. I'm not a big fan of 1 and dones. I'd rather us have a program like Butler's and that's what he seems to be working towards.

Brad Stevens has done a great job, no doubt. But, Butler competes in and qualifies for the tournament out of the Horizon League. Put their roster in the Big 12, ACC, Big East or SEC and they might not make the tournament.
