Roush is more likely to give Stenhouse the nod. Niether bring sponsorship, but Bayne may have a better shot for a full deal if he is in the 21 car.

There is growing speculation that Carl Edwards is looking at his options, Gibbs is where most say he is showing interest. Also Montoya is rumored to be one of the drivers Red Bull would like to replace Khane, who is slated to replace Mark Martin, who is another driver Red Bull is considering, supposedly. Martin to the 4 car would keep things simple with little ripple effect, assuming Khane does indeed go to the 5 car. Speaking of Red Bull, Brian Vickers is also a so called free agent as well, and there is thought that he may not be happy staying. Would they bring back Scott "Lack Of" Speed?

After the last weekend, Kurt Busch may be lookingfor a new ride too.

I read he ripped Tom German over his radio. I'm sure if he ever becomes a free agent again, he wouldn't have trouble finding a ride.

Tom German pretty much has said they deserved it, that they recognize Busch is one of the top 5 drivers, and they will do all it takes to keep him.

One thing that may be hurting Penske is his penchant for doing everything in-house. They even have a saying - "it's NIH, we don't use it". NIH meaning not in-house. Most of the top teams will and do outsource items that are better than what they can make themselves.

Kurt Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya and Brian Vickers will all be looking for rides, I think. Edwards would be stupid to leave Roush because there is no other better destinations right now. It would be silly to go to a 4th JGR start up team.

I doubt it because Scott is in the process of suing them.

Which is interesting because he has had success when he has used other equipment. I've never really understood why he can't be as successful with PRS as with his open wheel team.

I think both driver and team could do a better job. Apparently the meetings this week have gotten heated too. I doubt there's a single one of them who isn't passionate about what they do. Just have to work together.

I think they all know what they have.

I have often wondered about that myself. The best idea I can consider is that Penske has so much more time in open wheel cars, and has always been the team most top drivers aspire to drive for, the Ferrari of Indy car if you will.

Of course he went through a year or two of frustration with Al, Jr. and Fittipaldi when they couldn't even qualify for the 500 one year. But the number of truly competitive teams in Indy Car has always been far less than in NASCAR.

Do you think Penske would be better off switching to Chevy, Ford or Toyota? I think he had a fallout with GM back when Rusty switched to Ford but that's been several years ago.

Also, I'm sure if the sponsorship were there he would like to have more than 2 cars, I wonder if he would ever consider teaming up with Rusty or someone else if they could bring a sponsor on board?

I don't think he'll leave Dodge, he get's there undivided attention in the Sprint Cup series.

Rusty was part owner when he was with Penske. He was bought out, along with their other partner, when Rusty retired.

I hope Carl stays where he is, I don't know if I could keep following him if he drove something other than a Ford.

TIFWIW;

Joe Gibbs Racing is courting Carl Edwards to take over the #20 Home Depot Toyota for next year. The thinking is that Joey would slide over to the long rumored 4th JGR car.

A guy I'm talking to over Twitter made the predication three months ago that he'd be in the #20 car next year. He says that it will happen if JGR meets his salary demand and right now says there is a 40% chance it happens. He also thinks Joey will be let go completely and Home Depot might split time with Subway or another sponsor. Will be interesting to see, I agree when he says Home Depot must be tired of not winning.

I hope Roush meets whatever Carl wants.

Me too. I don't think Edwards will go anywhere though. The grass isn't greener anywhere else as far as more competitve cars go. The only thing that might cause Edwards to move elsewhere is the greener money that might be offered.

I think he stays. He is having a great year, and is "the" driver for Roush. I would still be a fan, but I wouldn't be too happy about it. Like you said, Ford is having a great year, it might be hard to move on.
