2013-14 Schedule

Which is kinda ironic.IMO Getting back to Chris' point of Jerry Green coming to TN. Didn't we throw a lot more money at Jerry Green than Oregon wanted to spend?

That was before my time, so I could be mistaken, however...from my memory Oregon wasn't big money players until around 10-15 years ago. Phil Knight started throwing tons of money into the university and now their facilities are likely best in the nation. Once again, I may be wrong, but I don't think Knight was throwing around money during the Green era like he is now.

Buddy of mine texted me yesterday that we play Mizzou, Miss St, Florida and Texas A&M twice this year. Also, Vandy twice of course. I don't think I've seen this on the board, SIAP.

I would more than be happy with this. That means we would only have UK Georgia Alabama Auburn Ol Miss and USCjr once. Sounds real good to me.

I definitely consider Vandy a rival, but damn I really wish we'd play UK twice every year. I don't think they have a bigger rival than us in the SEC. We probably got stuck with Vandy because no one else cares about them. I guess we are the one and only true rival of Vandy.

No. Is that a common thing?

I don't know how common it is to schedule both home and home basketball and football series with OOC teams, but Virginia just finished a basketball series with Oregon two years ago and now it is about to begin a football series with them. I imagine that if a couple of athletic directors develop some sort of relationship, then scheduling across the entire department becomes more likely. On the other hand, the only other instance I can remember where UVa played home and home series, in both sports, with a cross sectional rival was Louisville.

I saw someone on another board listing our conference schedule as well. Not sure how they figured it out, but I can't remember who they had listed either.

As for the teams you listed, that would be a great draw. We should sweep Vandy, A&M, State and probably Missouri although at their place may not be easy. If we could draw Kentucky at home as well instead of at Rupp that would make for a very favorable schedule.

That would be:

Vandy x2
Mississippi State x 2
Missouri x 2
Texas A&M x 2
Florida x2
Kentucky
Georgia
LSU
Ole Miss
Auburn
South Carolina
Alabama
Arkansas

I see 13-5 comference record being very plausible, and I've said 10-3 OOC, so that would be 23-8 regular season...I would definitely be happy with that. We would be ranked top 20 heading into the SECT and playing from somewhere between a 4-6 seed, that would be great.

I do like the teams listed for having to play twice. Other than Auburn and maybe USCjr I don't think we could have drawn better. As always, I like playing little Eddie Munster's teams as many times as possible.

Hey I wouldn't complain!
Without seeing the schedule, and knowing we don't have much competition in OOC, who do you think we'll lose 3 games to?

I can see

One in the Atlantis

One to Xavier/Wichita but not both

One more to??

EDIT: Xavier returns almost all of their starters and Wichita loses three of their top 5 scorers. Both away games.

I basically have us losing one it atlantis, and 2/3 with @Xavier, @Wichita, home Virginia. It's also possible we lose 2 in Atlantis, there are some very good teams down there, so it's definitely possible.

Could I see us losing just 2, absolutely, but I try to add 1 or 2 losses I'm not predicting to help overcome my bias, I did the same with my conference prediction.

We gotta win some non conference games.

There's no reason we lose more than 6 games with the talent and leadership that this team has. 100% serious

If that's where you're setting your expectations, well more power to you lol. Could this team do it, 25-6, sure they definitely could..but I think expecting that is a bit much. However, if you have that high of expectations for this team there's nothing wrong with that. I will be happy with anything at or better than 23-8.

Martin's career best road percentage is .500.
Hope yer right, but that would be a huge turn around.

Yeah, you also have a good point too. What would make a 'loser' turn around so quickly? I honestly can't answer that, and I might be a tad too optimistic. But eh, that's what sports are all about. Haha.

Having better players is the biggest step towards having a better record.

@TomSatkowiak: For those wondering, @Vol_Hoops Dec. 14 game vs Wichita State in the downtown Wichita venue will still be a "true road game" for the Vols.
