2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

He wanted research, and he got it.

I'm too lazy to find it, but I mentioned how e said Memphis "cherry picks" it's reruits. He went on and on telling me he never said that, so I found te post where he said "Memphis will continue to cherry pick".

He's a lawyer, so of course when called out on this he did the best side step he could, and turned it into I had no life since I pulled a post from 6 months ago.

Expect much of the same.

I don't get the UVA interest either, but UF goes without saying, what with him trying out for Donovan's U18 squad and the Florida-M33M connection. UVA and UF are both getting a lot of buzz re: Nichols right now.

Alot of buzz about him wanting to attend the same school as his sister too.

Pretty much what i'm expecting from him or re wording something.

Lol, no you're fine. Just a little running joke here in the bball forum.

Lately, we've been trying to fill out the '13 class. We have a few good players showing significant interest. Austin Nichols, Robert Hubbs, Markel Crawford, and recently Akoy Agau seem to be high on the power T, and they're all impact players. There are probably more, but this is my short list. I'm hoping we land Nichols the most FWIW.

Josh Newkirk and Schuylar Rimmer too.

thanks C4V. good response and good thread linked. i sense that you guys have a small group of fairly rational posters and enjoy the lack of chaos that follows the football forum. i understand. nobody talks much about the actual game of football, just arguing opinions. as ive stated last year, i was suprised at how much i liked watching UTs new defensive style, although i only saw a few games. watching us suffocate UF was a thing of beauty. will big time recruits ever be drawn to defensive basketball? there is something appealing about CCM, to me. i hope he builds something special and gives the hoopVols an idenity.

Still early, but kind of getting an idea which guys are legitimately interested and we have a real shot with. Right now it appears we're in very good shape with...

Newkirk PG...in his top 4
Hubbs SG...in his top schools
Crawford...#2 on his list currently
Nichols PF...probably UT at the top with duke
Agau PF/C...appear to be top 4
Jarquez PF/C...appear to be top 2-3
Rimmer C...tenn high on his list

Everyone of these guys are impact layers, and are top 150 players, except for rimmer who is right on the edge. If the roster stays the same, no suspensions/transfers, then we can sign 3 more guys, we currently have a PG Travon Landry committed.

Skeeter....you usually have great info for football so any basketball you hear, please tell us!!

The sister comment is nice because I think his sister is looking to attend UT next year? Also, this is setting up beautiful for UT. The only concern I have right now is UF. Duke isn't pushing as hard, according to his dad and he'd be a project setting on the bench at UNC so if we beat Donovan I think we have this kid.

"Austin Nichols was contacted by both Coach Wojo & Collins from Duke as well as Mizzou's Frank Haith & a Tennessee assistant, among others."

Oops...maybe Duke is picking it back up lol. I guess teh comments I read about Duke and his dad were old. You gotta love recruiting!

His sister is already in Knoxville and enrolled at UT.

Thanks for this post. (And for suffering us bandwagoners) :hi:

There twins but he's a year behind?

I knew they were very very close but I don't know they were twins. I assumed since she is here for this coming year she was a year older.

I believe he got held back early. My brother goes to Briarcrest and says they are.

Oh ok. Yea shocked me when you said they were twins, yet she graduated 2012. Then again if basketball has been his thing, many families hold their kids back a year.

:good!:Not sure if he will be spectacular from the get-go, but he seems to be destined to be a team's top 2 scorer, I think. I can't say yes for sure, but pretty much yes.

And a good inside presence.

is this kid a game changer?

No probably not, but a very solid 3/4 year players who will get you 14/10 a night. Very fundamentally sound, will work hard, not be a disturbance, very coach able, and does all the small things coaches like.

There's a reason duke is after him, very good post player.
