2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

If it wasn't for all the menphis faithful saying Memphis doesn't have a shot, I'd actually think they're on of the leaders.

He wants to stay close to home, you can't get any closer than Memphis. He wants the chance to play immediately, I'm not a Memphis roster expert, but I'm thinking he'd have the opportunity for major minutes freshman year.

I've said it for awhile, Memphis is a school that would make sense for him, but those "in the know" or that are menphis fans, say there's zero chance he goes there, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Who knows, personally I think they're more in play than most give credit for, but that's strictly my opinion.

Do you think it's just a courtesy visit, or is there some interest. Seems if there was zero interest why waste your time?

Pastner works like a dog. With Nicols being right there in the backyard, he's not going to give up on him.

This visit, in my opinion, is equally as revealing as Nick King's visit to Knoxville.

So you would say that Nichols is actually considering pretty strongly Memphis, and that they'll be in his top 4?

That's a bit of a change on how you've spoken on the Nichols/Memphis recruitment.

And fwiw, I don't see a 20 minute drive to take a visit nearly as telling as taking a 7 hour drive across the state to take a visit. Jmo

They may be in his top 4, but Memphis isn't really in the running for him.

I don't know enough about the circumstances behind the King visit, so who knows if he drove all the way to KVille just for the visit or not.

So what you're saying is Tennessee isnt really in the running for king?

and yes, the king family made the drive to knoxville solely for the visit...

He's a Memphis kid. He needs to give them the respect of a visit.

Don't burn bridges. He's not going there, though he would be the 3rd Briacrest player there since '84.

Tennessee is in the running for King as much as Memphis is in the running for Nichols, I'm guessing.

I guess that's where we disagree then.

I feel Tennessee has a decent chance with king, and it's improving.

From all accounts, you and other memphians, have said Memphis has basically zero chance with Nichols.

That's what I was wondering, just a respect thing.

That's why I don't compare it to the king visit. Big difference in driving 20 minutes for a visit, and 7 hours for a visit. And what does King owe UT and Knoxville? I just don't see the 2 visits as being similar. Nichols seems to be a courtesy visit, while King's was actually a visit of legitimate interest.

Gaililee put it best in the "Nick King is on Campus" thread: King is a very heavy Memphis lean and it will be an uphill battle for UT to land him.

He's no lock, but Memphis is way out in front for him. Things can always change, but I feel that's how it is for King.

I'm probably into you for $20 on thue Hubbs bet though, care to go double or nothing on King committing to UT?

Nah, we can do seperate odds though on king to UT if you'd like. What did I give you 20:1 on hubbs to UofM?

You gonna match that with king?

Ok so if king goes to UofM were square, and if king goes to UT you owe me $420?

If King doesn't go to UT, Hubbs doesn't go to Memphis, we're square.

If King goes to UT, Hubbs goes to UM, we're square.

If Hubbs picks UM, King doesn't pick UT, you owe me $420.

If King picks UT, Hubbs doesn't pick Memphis, I owe you $420.
