2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

I've known Easterwood since 1985. He's a clown.

Don't know if you recall, but he had a football recruiting "incident" with his son a few years back. UT wanted no part of his son. They went for a visit with others and he complained about a hostess rubbing her boobs on a couple of players. Reported it to somebody.
Probably because he's been around Bobby Dodd for so many years. He turned antiboob.

The Kings are really nice people, and I'm sure they genuinely like Martin but nobody who knows them thinks they're going to drive six hours each way to see Nick play. When you can get off work and drive to the arena for a 7 pm tipoff, that's hard to beat.

The dynamics are much more in Tennessee's favor with Nichols but he also asked to come home from the U.S. under-18 team because he was homesick. So you never know.

So why'd they bother to drive 6 hours each way just to visit, kind of pointless wouldn't ya say?

How should I know? Why do any kids make visits? People develop relationships in recruiting, and if someone has worked really hard to recruit you it would be discourteous not to at least come on campus and give them a fair chance.

That has nothing to do with what happens at the end of the day, when all the factors are considered.

That complete BS, not every kid takes an unofficial to every school that has recruited him. Why hasn't king taken an unofficial to Texas or Vandy???

You're in denial if you think Tennessee isn't a player for king. Memphis is the favorite, absolutely, but king is giving UT serious thought.

Saying he got bored and thought it'd be a nice gesture is the reason why he drove cross state on his own dime to visit UT is foolish.

Chris McCullough is visiting Memphis unofficially later this month, and I don't think Memphis has a snowball's chance in Hades of getting him. So why is he doing it, spending his own money to come all the way down from New York?

Memphis will get our fair share...we always do.

I'd like to see us land at least 1 talented non-Memphian

you can't become totally reliant on Memphis talent.

He obviously has some some level of interest in Memphis, or maybe Memphis is paying him to visit.

You didn't answer my question, why did King visit UT, but not a school that's on his list and 3 hours closer?

B/c Vandy sux.

Ok, but they're in his top 3, obviously there's some level of interest there, so why not make a courtesy trip to thank those coaches? and what about Texas?

All my point is, that most memphis fans on here are disagreeing with, is that King had a level of interest in UT. He didn't take an h official to UT just for the hell of it, he didn't because he's interested. He enjoyed his visit and will be back, well because he is interested in the school.

If you want to compare it to the level of interest that Nichols has for Memphis then fine, but he clearly is seriously considering UT, any rational unbiased person can't argue that.

MC --- John Martin on G. Parrish @ 5:40 pm to talk Markel Crawford commit and what's expected to follow. Might also interest UT guys.

$10 says he mentions the impact it could have on Austin because of their friendship, yet doesn't mention stokes or hubbs friendship.

Any takers?

Maybe Nick King isn't seriously considering all the programs in his top 4.

And that's fine, but according to the poster he isn't seriously considering UT and it was just a courtesy to the staff since they were recruiting him. That's where I took exception because he hasn't given that same "courtesy" visit to the other school recruiting him.

Says helps with Nichols and King. Thinks it will be hard for Memphis to get Nichols, says this helps even more with King.

Said that Johnson and Crawford can share floortime and this most likely won't hurt with Johnson, as Crawford can run the point and distribute.

That's why I wanted Crawford pretty bad. We could've taken him and not worried about having to bring in a PG also, he's more than capable of handling the point.

No reason to mention either. Stokes is UT and Hubbs is not a serious UM target. Nichols/Hubbs doesn't compute for UM at this time (or ever really)

Nichols/Crawford friendship is in every write-up of commit; JM mentioned it. It's a small + for UM and that's about it.

There's a King article from May on the Texas rivals site saying he unoficially visited Vandy, fwiw.
