As good a shot as any at this point, especially after Crawford's committment puts the squeeze on other area recruits.
Is it safe to say we are still in the lead for Austin?
Also TIFWIW, but apparently jarnell is good friends with Austin's twin sister Ashley, and her "posse" who obviously is at UT. Not a huge deal, but it's worth noting IMO.
Austin is huge on family, and being away from home is hard for him. To have his sister and friend in jarnell at UT, and apparently his sister being friends with jarnell, it just seems like a pretty good fit.
Like I said, nothing huge, but worth noting IMO.
This thread is huge so just gonna ask a question I know has already been answered. Has Nichols indicated he wants to commit during the early period or is he going to wait till next year to sign.

Nichols stopped far short of eliminating any of those national powers from contention, however. It's important to remember that Austin doesn't even have a list of finalists yet. That will change very soon.
"Yeah, we've got to get to work and cut this list down," Mark Nichols admitted. "It's not going to be easy. But I want to get this process over with so my son doesn't have to worry about it all season long. My wife and I don't want this hanging over his head. Austin will sign early so he can concentrate on his senior season."
Still think this basically eliminates duke...
"Mark Nichols also made it clear that his son will not sign with a school that cannot give him a reasonable assurance of playing time.
We don't want him going to a school where he's going to have to wait around to play," he said firmly. "Why would we do that when there are so many schools who could use him right away?
That would seem to imply that the University of Florida, as much as Austin likes Billy Donovan, could be in trouble following recent commitments that bolster their front line. He also singled out Duke and North Carolina as schools that are laden with big men in 2013."
.....
Unless he is serious about Memphis I really honestly don't see any school that makes sense other than UT.
