2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

And that's fine, but according to the poster he isn't seriously considering UT and it was just a courtesy to the staff since they were recruiting him. That's where I took exception because he hasn't given that same "courtesy" visit to the other school recruiting him.

I didn't say that. You're reading into what I said. Listen carefully. Kids visit schools, unofficially and officially, that they might have an interest in but are unlikely to pick at the end when all the factors are put into play.

You said the reasoning for his visit was because it would be "discourteous". Insinuating that his visit was primarily a courteous visit and not because of actually interest in the school.

That's not true. Auburn and Virginia are in there deep, really deep. And you never know what will happen with Memphis.

I want to agree, but other than Hubbs/Nichols playing together and immediate playing time, they (Auburn, VA) offer almost no championship potential and the NCAA tourney would be up in the air. Enter Duke and UT. Duke won't necessarily offer immediate playing time; might not even take/have room for both. UT will take'em and play'em, have a good shot at the SEC tourney, and make the Big Dance as champ or at-large.

Having pumped UT, think you should be in DEFCON 4 (lowest) until this Crawford commit and Nichols visit moves on down the road. JMO

I'm not sure why you're being hard-headed about this. I'm sure Tennessee has worked hard to build a relationship with King. I'm sure Tennessee has been pushing for a long time to get him to come visit. And given how much work Tennessee has put in on King, it would be surprising if he didn't. That's what coaches do - they try to get kids on campus.

That doesn't necessarily change the underlying dynamics that will impact the decision at the end.

The cousin of Hubbs/Nichols' AAU coach just got hired as an assistant at Auburn. And the man whose name is on the arena at Virginia has a clo$e relationship with that AAU coach.

I'm thinking like a 17 yr old kid; if you are throwing in money, shoes, AAU coach/"agent", etc. into the selection process, what the kid wants isn't gonna' mean much.

From what I've read, they want to play together. If they split up, the arguments I put out there still apply (pretty much). If they don't both go to Auburn or UVA, Duke/UT look even better.

You're homerism and dislike for UT isn't obvious or anything.

Let's see what all have you said...

King visiting UT was out of courtesy, not true interest. Now you're making a case for every school except UT for hubbs and Nichols.

Why post here, are the Memphis boards truly that bad? Or are you just that insecure about pastner you feel the need to come here and blow off steam?

Nichols goes to a private school that probably cost 15k. Talks of pay for play paid to him or his family are stupid, and he's not going where some cousin of somebody might me an asst coach. Ridiculous.

I'm not making a case. I'm trying to give you information. Do you know anything about the way recruiting really works?

Yes i do, and you suggesting 2 kids from good families who 1 of which is pretty damn wealthy is going to go to a school for money is just short of being retarded.

I'm hearing king is UT bound, something about the ladies here or something.

I mean c'mon dude, atleast make a reasonable argument. Nichols isn't going to UVA or UA, get a clue.

Who said anything about pay for play?

If you spend all summer when you're 16 and 17 playing for a coach every day and traveling around the country, that coach will have an influence with some players. Especially when that adult is well-connected and well-funded.

And the fact that Austin put Auburn on his list once Ryan Miller took a job there proves that his AAU coach does have some level of influence over the process.

This is the way recruiting works. It's very rarely simple.

Oh so in this case it isn't a "courteous" thing that he feels to his AAU coaches cousin? Makes sense bruh.

Uh, that's not what I suggested.

I suggested that Austin's AAU coach has deep connections to Virginia and Auburn. What a shocker - they're both on Austin's list. You trying to say an AAU coach who spends hundreds of hours around kids all summer and drags them all over the country has no influence over their recruitment? That's naive.
