2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

Pastner is an AAU coach trying to coach D-I basketball.

Riding Cals coattails until the wheels fall off! I expect that to happen soon. Like I said before, Pastner will grab enough wins in that pathetic conference to secure a decent win total but he'll get exposed when he faces better coaches every night.

Yup. If he were to get fired do you think UT would even consider Nichols though.

Is that a serious question?

We need post help, and he's a 5* post...we'd take him and thank Pastner on his way out the door.

Honestly though, I really don't think Pastner gets canned really no matter what this year. It's take missing the dance badly, having NCAA sanctions etc etc IMO...his class is too good next year and while I don't think he'll do anything with them the AD won't want to head into the big east with a new coach and dismantled recruiting class IMO.

If I were a Memphis fan I'd be very concerned that there has been very little progress made at all in his four years. They're saying the same things about this recruiting class that they did about the one a few years ago.

Exactly. Why Nichols picked to play for Pastner rather than K or CCM is inscrutable. If his father and mother picked, it remains inscrutable. His talent will languish under Pastner. K or CCM would have helped him reach his potential. Not only that, Duke, and to a lesser extent UT, have better academics and UT for sure has a better student life. Pastner reminds me of Larry Coker: took over a Cadillac program by default and promptly ran it into the ground, even in a weak conference.

That's my question...when do the recruiting classes not become enough?

I have a hard time seeing him being ousted this year, think they keep him at least one more.

I said before the season started that I didn't think Memphis was going to be that good. I said they might even lose to Southern Miss and everyone laughed. Josh Pastner and crew have done wonderfully in making me look smart. Then again it wasn't that hard to know that Memphis tiger High would waste all that talent with Pastner as coach. Go Big Orange!:dance2:

You could argue that Cal ran that Cadillac into a tree on his way out of town. If it weren't for Elliot Williams transferring, he would have had nothing that first year. Looking to be a drama-filled season in Memphis though.
