Go from a guard averaging 2.2 points we let go and have a chance to get this guy and fans still complain. I'm lost

Exactly. We sign Ndiaye and its determined he sucks because of his stats. We recruit jordan who's stats are beyond impressive, and fans still gripe.

Here's the deal. I'm sick of offering guys in which we're their only major conference offer. The 48% thing looks great. But why isn't anyone else offering? I know it's late in the process but it's not like this guy just all of a sudden came around. He was a 1st team All JUCO player.

I don't know if he even fits the PG position. He didn't play it for his JUCO team and we've got a lot of wings right now. If he is a 2, who will he play ahead of next year? We've already brought in enough JUCO guys who gave us no minutes.

Well, at least we seem to be recruiting the big man from Lipscomb that is transferring and won't be available til the '14 season....
What a difference it would have made this past season if golden or Mcbee could have averaged 40%+ from the 3.
Defenses simply sagged on Stokes and dared us to shoot it.
This guy averages 4 assists a game ,shoots the 3 and scores at the rim. Quite a few steals too.
This ain't no throw away.

Only problem I have with Pops is that there were a dozen Juco bigs available when we signed him, that averaged double doubles and tons of playing time.
I hope he does well, but if he doesn't it's more fuel for the fire.

In the same sense. They didn't know about Golden not possibly being here for a couple weeks or so. We weren't looking to add a PG and with Yemi I just think it was all bad timing with both of the transfers. If the staff had more time to know that they needed players I think we would have been in on better players. I didn't understand the big man commit but we were scrambling.

The staff knew at least 3-4 weeks about Trae Golden was probably going to be gone before the transfer was announced.

"For most of our recruits"

So you're saying over 50% of our recruits didn't have offers from high major teams?

I'd say that at least half the guys that Zo has signed so far have had less than 3 major conference offers and none of those would be construed as teams in the top half of their conference.

'11
Washpun- Iowa
Chievous- S Fla
Yemi- none
Dwight Miller- none
Josh Richardson- Ga Tech & Penn St (but I'll count him as one that had offers)

'12
Edwards- DePaul (can they be considered major conf?)
Moore- Ole Miss
Reese- none
Stokes- I think he qualifies

'13
Hubbs- see Stokes
AJ Davis- Auburn, Clemson, UGA, Ga Tech
Landry- none (some would say Vandy offered his junior year)
Ndiaye- none
Thompson- Vandy, Auburn, Purdue, NC St

So 14 signees. Four of them have no BCS offers. Two of them were highly sought after recruits. Two had more than 2 BCS offers and maybe NC St would be considered a team in the top half of their conference (for Thompson).

It's really shocking when you see the kind of recruits we've signed. Hopefully '14 is a different kind of class.

What's he supposed to do in 2011 when he's got about 3 weeks to fill 6 spots?

Maybe not miss a month during recruiting season while being an assistant coach on a U-20 USA basketball team?

Actually, I don't have much of a problem with his '11 class. He had to fill it in a hurry. I think he could have maybe tried harder to keep Jones and Ware. Instead of waiting 4 days to go visit them maybe he should have seen them his first day on the job. Maybe Jones still goes to JUCO but he can re-recruit him.

Anyway, what's the excuse for '12 & '13?

Either way this kid looks like a good replacement for Golden. At least he will add depth to the PG spot that has Thompson and wait for it wait for it Lopez and Galen Campbell. I'm not ready to throw Thompson to the wolves and have fans on here the next day calling for his and CCM's head. If our former senior to be point guard kept his junk in his pants we wouldn't even be discussing this.

Dwight Miller was signed to Pitt but ok continue

Dwight Miller then went to JUCO after a freshman year at Pitt in which he avg less than a point per game. He had no big offers out of JUCO. He contributed at a level that is similar to his offer list.

But OK, continue.

There's more than 6 good basketball conferences.

Yes, there are. But there are 6 that are known as the "power" conferences. There are 6 that just about every Final Four team comes from, save 5 in the last 10 years.

But if you want to consider our recruits other than Hubbs and Stokes highly sought after, that's something you can work out on your own I guess.

Had injuries at Pitt and was playing behind some pretty good post players transferred and ended up the 10th best JUCO prospect but ok continue. Injuries plagued him regardless.

Okay. I don't disagree with why he didn't play at Pitt and why his career maybe got sidetracked.

So what offers did he have when we signed him? I'm not quite sure what your argument is. What's your point? That he went to Pitt? Okay, I don't dispute that. The question was asked about major conference offers for guys that we signed. Was I wrong?

According to govolsxtra Washington, Maryland and Oklahoma State were schools that Miller chose the Vols over.
