2013 JUCO PG Jordan Johnson

Maybe not miss a month during recruiting season while being an assistant coach on a U-20 USA basketball team?

Actually, I don't have much of a problem with his '11 class. He had to fill it in a hurry. I think he could have maybe tried harder to keep Jones and Ware. Instead of waiting 4 days to go visit them maybe he should have seen them his first day on the job. Maybe Jones still goes to JUCO but he can re-recruit him.

Anyway, what's the excuse for '12 & '13?

I'm not really disappointed in 2013. We landed Hubbs. I think Davis and Thompson were pretty good gets.

My biggest gripe in his recruiting has been he's taken commits too early from some reaches. Reece and Landry. I think the 2014 class will be a better reflection of his recruiting ability. He's been recruiting these guys since he got here. I really wish he had made the tourney this past year because I think it will be used against him.

This. I really don't think Cuonzo made the adjustment from selling MVC to SEC very quickly. He seems to be getting there now. As for Miller, while he was being recruited, the other reported offers were West Texas and Oakland. Those other schools weren't reported until after he signed, kind of like Rwaine Ndyiae's interest from other SEC schools. I think Knoxville reporters are easy to play on stuff like that.

"For most of our recruits"

So you're saying over 50% of our recruits didn't have offers from high major teams?

High majors wasn't the correct term I guess but what I was meaning was over half of our players only have offers from very mediocre programs.

It will be impressive because there's been almost no news from the Tennessee side. All the news has come from other places and it all points to Maryland or Tennessee. Hubbs and crew have had almost nothing on the situation, then mention Texas A&M in passing on a radio segment as if it's no big deal.

Hubbs stated last week on 104.5 the Zone that he felt fairly strongly that Barton to A&M was going to happen. He said it was not done yet, but it looked like this was going to be the deal. Who knows though.

I hope he's a VOL!!!

All signs point to hubbs being right again here but why would he share this info on air before putting it on his paid site???

Isn't that the kind of info people pay for???

Just seems odd he would put that out there in that manner.

My guess would be that Rob told Brent but didn't put it on the board. Rob seems to know a lot that he doesn't share on the board.

Maybe so but this signing seems to be a very important piece of news. If I was a VQ subscriber I would think that info should have been given to the board first instead of on air. It's all pretty odd

It would never happen with football.

You're right about '13. I don't really have a big issue with Hubbs and Davis and then luckily Thompson fell in our lap. But you need luck in the recruiting game. I was just responding really to the guy that asked about offers our signed players had received.

Like you said, I have real issues with Landry and Reece. Where did those offers come from? But I think those two offers are just one of many missteps Zo has made, recruiting as well as on the court.

NYC, you know good and well that rivals doesn't update that stuff.

And GVX said we beat out 3 nobody schools but he was staring to get attention from Washington, OK St and whoever else. Not exactly "offers".

And we're going back and forth on one guy out of 8 others with crappy offer lists. I mean, c'mon on.

I agree with this.

If this guy comes to UT, it could be a blessing in disguise on Golden's departure.
