2014-2015 roster

Thompson, Hubbs, Richardson, Moore, Davis, and possibly Stokes.

That's 5 or 6 guys likely ahead of those freshman, so those freshman will be around 7-9, much like Richy Rich.

Again, which is why I said that Cuonzo has to do some real development this season, in getting guys like Thompson, Richardson, Moore, Davis (Stokes is a pipedream, IMO) ready to play 25+ minutes and be starters in the SEC. Right not they're now, even Richardson.

Good thing that player development has been one of CCM's stronger attributes as a coach.

Richardson isn't ready to play 25 minutes a night in the SEC?

You may wanna check his numbers from last year.

My point exactly. Richardson was completely underwhelming for a 25+ per minute player in the SEC.

He's essentially going to be your second best player after Hubbs and he doesn't really excel at anything.

Lmao ok, if you think Richardson was underwhelming then I'm just gonna stop this discussion.

Known as one of the SEC's best perimeter defenders, yet doesn't excel in anything according to MC, wow.

Don't get so defensive, guy.

He played 30 minutes per game. Thirty!!! He averaged 7.9 pts, 4 rebs, 1 assist, .7 blocks and 1.1 steals. In thirty minutes of action!!!

He's a fine perimeter defender (one of the best in the SEC is a bit of a stretch, but for argument's sake, let's say that's true), but are these the type of efficiency numbers that you want your second-option to be putting up? No way.

Martin has got to develop some contributors this season, and Richardson is no exception.

He wasn't the number 1, 2, 3 or probably 4th scoring option, so of course his points are not gonna reflect what you may expect. If he was asked to be the guy or 2nd guy I have no doubt he's average 13-15ppg. His fg% was very good, you should take that into consideration.

Does Martin need to develop guys currently on the roster, duh, but that can be said for about 75% of current NCAA teams.

Martin DRASTICALLY needs to develop the talent on his current roster for 2014. Even the most homeristic Vol fan ::cough:: should see that this is true.

I was going to point out to the MC Guy that yeah sure Martin needs to develop his players (of course) for us to be a tourney type team next year. But like BTO pointed out so do 75% of all NCAA teams. Ohh and MC guy might needs to point that out to Pastner who apparently doesn't even have Memphis lifting weights much less developing into good players.

I'll tell Pastner that we need to lift more weights next time I talk to him.

I agree on all of that. I think Phillip Cofer has a chance to be a star and an instant starter next season if he progresses like I think he will. He is vastly underrated and I think he can step right in next season and start from day 1. Go Vols!

I would love for Cofer to be that type of guy. His measurables are somewhat of a concern for me. I hope his athleticism is what sets him apart. I heard he's been working on the 15 footer and that will greatly help. Right now he's a slim 6'8 (that can be fixed by the time he gets here), but I feel his post game will continue to mature.

TIFWIW but...

Faried was 6'7" 190lbs coming out of high school, entered the draft at 6'7" 225lbs. Cofer is 6'8" 205lbs as a junior in high school.

If Cofer is anything like Faried then we are in great shape. Faried, though, has many "great" attributes to his game. Great athleticism, great positioning, and great timing. Never gonna be an offensive powerhouse but he's a guy that understood his strengths and has rode them all the way to the NBA. Interesting that the Nuggets have him listed as a SF...

Cofer is a high motor guy like faried, loves rebounding with a passion and takes pride in it, can't wait for him to get here.

Got his dad's spirit.
You can see it in his play.
Can't wait to see him and AJ together.

It's all gonna depend on finding a starting center from the senior transfer pool or a JUCO. Pops isn't anymore than a ten minute a night player, and Turman isn't a SEC starter yet. We need to find a guy like Tarik Black to come in and help.

I don't know much about Pops, is he basically Yemi 2.0?

No its not.

There were three guards named to the SEC all-defensive team.

None were named Josh Richrdson though. He's good, but let's be realistic. But even if he was one of the best defenders, he still needs to do other things to impact the game.

Okay MC. I'll resign to your expert knowledge of the makeup of Tennessee's basketball team. JRich sucks. Only plays defense, and he's only decent at that.

I'm not saying he sucks, so let's skip the hystrionics.

But would you feel comfortable with him as your second option/second best player this season?
