2016 SEC MLB Draft Thread

How many Vols go tomorrow? I would have to say Jordan Rodgers & Vincent Jackson got For sure. Could be a couple of others not including the imcoming freshmen.

I would have thought Tre Carter would have been drafted already. I can sort of understand Linginfelter not getting drafted.

I still don't think Rodgers will be drafted high enough to take the money & run though. I see him back for his senior season as a Vol.

So, teams better have their crap together to get their picks in. What happens if they exceed their time slot? Has this ever happened I wonder?

This just seems unfair to me. I mean none of the other major sports force time slots in this manner for picking players. Plum crazy!

Yeah, they know who they want, if I remember correctly from last year, it's just an audio stream. It happens so fast there's no time for the talking heads to talk and the draft tracker gets pretty behind at times...ya just got to roll with it. I'll probably check out the first hour or two, then I'll just check in when I can.

@NathanRode: Rounds 11-40. 900 players will be drafted. When you ask if X will sign, keep this in mind: 639 signed. 66 were HS... #mlbdraft

@NathanRode: ...6 players got $500K+. 3 were HS. 16 HS picks got $250K+. #mlbdraft

Really good info here

@NathanRode: Not that it's any surprise, but just four HS picks in Rounds 7-10. #mlbdraft

Good tweet explaining how the new rules effect the draft

Expect trey carter to go in the 11th round to whomever is willing to pay the most.

Well a shameless pat on the back

@NathanRode: #Padres get a raw OF in Tre Carter (TN). Can really run. Just very raw with the bat. #mlbdraft

We all knew Carter was never going to college. Is there anybody else we need to watch for?

Yes but not much of a worry

If Shultz, pence, or liggy go in the first round or 2 today that will be reason to pay attention but I doubt that happens

also worth following to see about martin and Rodgers

I thought the draft was supposed to start at noon EST today? Don't tell me the draft tracker is screwed up again today from mlb.com?

Former Vol Vance Vizcaino picked in 11th by KC, the organization his dad is scouting supervisor for. Second time Royals have drafted him. His transfers worked out okay. Got to play in a regional with Stetson and going pro. Best wishes to him.

Well, I've spent the last hour and 45 minutes trying to get my keyboard to pair with the mac what did I miss?

And this is why the draft is a Fing joke

Notice what round

@GregJohnsMLB: Mariners have selected Trey Griffey, son of Ken Griffey Jr., in 24th round. He's a football player at Arizona.

Tre Carter was drafted in Round 11(#324 overall) to the Padres. We all knew he was going to be drafted. Does he make enough money there from the 11th round & run with it? Or, does he decide to go with his signing with the Vols?

I'd like to see him just like Linginfelter come to UT & play 3 season & let their play here at UT make them into much higher draft picks.

Linginfelter no doubt could be a 1st round pick while I believe Carter could make himself into a 2nd-3rd round pick after 3 seasons.

Will he go pro or stick with UT now? I say he comes to UT. He just lost a ton of money. He'd be better off to play 3 years at UT & probably be a 1st round pick after his junior season.

It's not easy to move up.

Every year, several hundred college RHP's who didn't get drafted in a signing round out of high school try to leap to the front of their class and get drafted in the first round after their junior year of college.

How many make it? There were six college RHP's drafted in the first round this week. That's the same as last year.

Four of those six were late round picks out of high school; two weren't previously drafted.

I have no idea how much money Linginfelter wants, and I have no idea how much he'll be offered. But his decision to attend college should not be based on the expectation that he'll get more money in three years than he can get now. That's a crap shoot, especially for pitchers. He might be a Dakota Hudson, but there's only six of them each year in the whole country.
