@MLBDraftTracker: 40 (1191): @Brewers select Tennessee RHP Kyle Serrano. https://t.co/4yhxz5XpPj #MLBDraft
Can't imagine that will fly...teams must have had a good reason not to take him earlier, just saying...
How do know about this? Has he said it personally? Did Carter tell people no matter where he was drafted that he's signing pro or did you mean he's signing with us instead?
I will make the players that sign bolded in the OP.
Looks like Texas A&M & Miss State took top honors for the most players drafted. A&M with 14 & Miss State with 12.
BTW, I'm a little surprised that Jordan Rodgers didn't get drafted. I picked him to go between rounds 15-20. I also picked Vincent Jackson to go higher in the 3rd-5th rounds.
I also figured Linginfelter would get drafted higher too. I knew Tre Carter would be picked as well but I have to be honest I didn't think it would come by the 11th round. I was thinking more along the lines of Jordan Rodgers in the 15th-20th round range.
I was surprised that Cox got picked as high as he did. I would have predicted him to be the last or next to last out of all of these guys mentioned. Glad for him though.

Yeah. We appear to be sitting really good. All we need is the Yankees and Mets to use their allotted money and we are good to go signee wise.
The key parts of the new rules that really limit what teams can do financially in the lower rounds are if a player chosen in the first 10 rounds doesn't sign, his pick's value is subtracted from his club's pool. If a team surpasses its allotment, it faces penalties. Plus, any amount a team exceeds their slotted amount in the lower rounds they have to pay a penalty of 75% or greater.
Unless a kid is just dead set against going to college, it doesn't make sense to take a $100,000-$150,000 bonus considering taxes is going to take 35% or more right off the top. They can get to the big league just a quickly by going the college route.
2016 Draft bonus pools, pick values | MLB.com
To give some oversight on the draft:
Mets: Only took 1 senior in the top 10 rounds. Almost all were College Jrs. Looking really good here. Mets total pool is 7.5 Million. Their top 3 picks pool together is 5.2 Million. The top picks getting full money will solidify Pence to UT.
Yankees: This on is a little more interesting. Rounds 6- 10 were all college Seniors. (Thus they have no leverage). Their picks 1- 5 have leverage. Their top pick is Blake Rutherford who wanted a big signing bonus. If he gets it, we are good. Blake wanted top 10+ round money which is about 3.3 million. The Yankees overall pool is 5.3 million. If he gets around that or North of that, Lingo is a Vol.
Plus the Mets took high school kids in rounds 11,12, 14 and 20. I'm sure most of the money they save from their bonus pool will be geared toward getting those guys signed.
