2018 MLB Draft

Wow according to twitter, Mitchell Parker has signed with San Jacinto Juco. Looks like he was going to sign all along, but the draft didn’t go his way. Seems like he doesn’t want to be at UT for three years and would rather try the draft again next year after one season at San Jacinto.

Reading the tweets it sounds like this kid really doesn’t want to fool with school.

Donnie Baker goes off on the MLB Draft and especially the kid the Braves picked........NOT SAFE FOR WORK

Santiago went to the Cardinals and he will be stuck behind Yadier Molina for a couple of seasons.

Red Schoedenist was a member of the Gashouse Gang in St. Louis and played with Stan Musial......... RIP.

Where are you seeing this?

Idk how the imbed feature works. Here are quotes.

“The Cubs, Mets, and Red Sox invited Mitchell Parker to attend pre-draft workouts in Boston, Chicago, and at New York's spring training facility in Florida. Parker elected to attend just the workout at Wrigley Field. He said, "I definitely want to go play pro ball." 1/2

“Parker hosted home visits w/ the Cardinals, Red Sox, Royals, Cubs, Indians, Mariners, Nationals, Mets, & Rockies. He said, “I just want to get out and play. Whatever team that gives me an opportunity to do that is where I’ll go. I just want to go play professional baseball”

“I can give you yet another update on Mitchell Parker. He has actually signed with San Jacinto JC, his father Tom tells me. It's more than a verbal. So now it's in the Cubs' hands, and wallets.”

That is a perfect example of everything wrong with NCAA baseball recruiting/signees along with the MLB draft. No wonder these coaches sign 30 kids. Something needs to give. I don’t know if the answer is to go the basketball route (year and done draft eligible) or what but that’s got to drive these coaches crazy to spend time and money getting these kids signed to only back out because they can go the JUCO route to MLB quicker.

The answer is kids can either sign out of high school or after they are 21. The juco rule is dumb

We've likely lost both LHP's in this class unless there's some JUCO kid I don't about...makes me sick.

Dumb why?? Totally believe the NCAA 4-2-4 rule is the best bet for any baseball player wanting to test the water....hope all smart 2017 and 18 parents are listing!

And yet Vandy had arguably the best HS pitching prospect signed in Rockers boy this year. Think he’ll end up at Motlow or Chatt St? That Makes me sick.

It's dumb in the sense they can be drafted

If you go to college you should have to stay until you are 21 imo

So it's a D1 coach's world? In the case of TN the option benefits the player and coach.

No, I’m not saying that. I just don’t think a JUCO kid should have an advantage over a NCAA kid. If a JUCO kid is draft eligible after 1 year, an NCAA kid should be.

Why does the option benefit the player and coach? Call Vitello and see what he thinks right now.
