You were right about the questionable "make up". I had hoped the positive peer pressure would be enough, but it looks like we lost Pence. Crud.

That is sad. I hate seeing kids throwing away great opportunities, especially ones with so much potential. This says a lot about the coaching staff though. You are in a make or break year and dismiss your best recruit. Those are the kind of men that I want leading my program and would like my son to play for.

I'm guessing he will go juco somewhere, probably Walter state. I don't know about those coaches but hopefully they will be able to reign him in some and keep him on track. The environment in juco isn't as structured as what it is at a D 1 school so it will be hard. I have seen this a lot with these types of kids. Typically the problem starts many years earlier with parents and coaches that don't instill discipline when they have the chance.

The baseball roster at UTSports.com has been updated...Sorry to hear about Pence, that's a shame.

Cammarata is gone...Langhorne...Ramirez...Reid...Harris...Daniel Neal...Pretty much what we thought during the summer...oh, and Pence as has been stated, is not on the roster.

38 listed on the roster. Due to transfer rules, El Chibani probably not eligible so 2 will have to go before the spring.

So you are not counting Brodie as a Pitcher/Outfielder? He did pitch a couple of innings this summer. :)

not just me but I don't think the coaching staff is either......:)

I'm about ready for some games to start! Gonna be an interesting year with the mix of young guys and veterans.

The JUCO kid from Chatt St. hit .413 there. Is he a walk-on or partial scholarship guy?

Not sure about walk-on or scholarship status for him but it is hard to say how a .413 ba in juco will translate in the sec.

For comparison, Chris Hall batted .400 in NAIA baseball before coming to UT. He struggled a little his first year but made himself a very good SEC hitter in his second year at UT.

At its best, JUCO pitching is better than NAIA pitching......At least in velo and potential.

This quote from Trent Mongero isn't specifically talking about this player but it applies:
Athletes who don't deal well with accountability will have difficulty reaching the college level and/or surviving at that level.
