2022-2023 Season Ticket Prices

The point is that they can't sell all of the tickets they have, now. So why freeze out the loyal customers who have supported you through the past 15+ crappy seasons by raising their prices when there are empty seats to be had, and you still don't have a winning product to promote???

What is so hard to understand about that? Do you really believe a whole new flock of fans are chomping at the bit to snatch up season tickets to watch a .500 football team? Create demand, first! It's Economics 101.

The people who want to go to games, now, and start buying season tickets can do it without any change to the pricing model. Tickets, as you admitted, are available. Sell the dang ones you got and then address the market.

So they should’ve dropped the prices like they did but kept honoring those getting cheaper tickets you’re saying? It has been said their reasoning for now was the club level this offseason…those folks are going to have to be moved to a different spot, rather than a year later likely make them move again just go ahead and do it all at the same time.

So in your opinion no doubt that season ticket sales drop by at least 45% then for next year, right?

Who said empty seats? They aren’t picking which seats are changing in price, it’s all seats….there were lower level season tickets available for purchase this year, were you unaware of this? Do you not realize some people who purchased season tickets this year never have before?

And there are so few of those lowers available, the price is enormous. Yes, lowers will drop when comparing all 10,000 of those to the handful that turnover year-to-year. Basically the history of giving is being erased because those earlier donations have been spent long ago.

Short sighted strategy by a transient administration.

Sure, drop those seats from $950 to $600 and get them sold. Then when the market dictates it, adjust the price of tickets. Again, it's supply and demand, and a very simple concept.

Facing NCAA sanctions, a .500 (at best) record, and thousands of already empty seats is not the time to make a sweeping financial move that upsets half of your already paying customers against the hope that they can be goaded into upping their donation and ticket price, or that they can be replaced by thousands of additional fans with hands full of cash that for some reason, aren't coming to the games despite available tickets, now.

This is the kind of move you make when your team is competing consistently and you are regularly filling your stadium to near capacity. I'm old enough to remember when there was a waiting list for season tickets. Create that kind of demand, again, and then make this move.

Football is very different. The new sideline lounge being built is disrupting the entire seating model. All of the most desirable, legacy seating outside of the club level are being displaced. Therefore there will be a snowball effect as those there that don’t want the new amenity will locate in the next lower group, and that group will displace the next. And so on.

I’ll be looking for seats in the shade. I’ll go from row 30 to row 50 since the September noon games are brutal. The season didn’t use to start until much later in September and the lights were added because it was too hot even for the 2pm kick offs. It’s bull **** when they throw around sound bytes like enhancing the fan experience. It’s a short sighted, near term cash grab for the Athletic Department. I am disappointed that the Academics have lost so much power. It is an institution of higher learning first. That’s been lost.

I think that Neyland will resemble Bristol Motor Speedway before long. In percentage of seats with butts in them.

Does that 50% apply to donors who have both football and basketball tickets? I doubt it

I don’t think those of us who are displaced will be able to displace existing ticket holders in the next best section. I think we’re left picking from what’s left. Kind of ****** IYAM

Guess we’ll see who’s smarter, you or Danny White…no offense but my money is on the man considered a Top 5 AD with a very well known track record of increasing revenue and surplus at previous stops.

If your stance is correct then you’re suggesting season ticket sales will drop off by record numbers, correct?

I’m waiting on my extortion call next month with the FB offer. I’m undecided. The noon games make it hard for me to want to renew in the same location.

I do expect a ripple effect, but they will start by having an inventory of voluntarily vacated, next best section, season tickets holders. They actually need a certain percentage to just say eff it and give up their legacy seats.

Season ticket sales aren’t the only metric. Donations to the university will take a huge hit and it will be impossible to accurately measure.

Like I’ve said before…win and there will be no issues, I assure you..continue losing and falling further into irrelevancy and it’s a moot point.

Destroying the goodwill that has been built for generations will have far more devastating effects on the university when wins are evasive. This Danny strategy is banking on winning.

I know quite a few folks who have done if…I’m years past they’ve paid their ticket costs by not attending 1 game.
Those are the games I most wanted to attend. The good games on the home schedule are the reason I bought tickets for all those years.

Like I said, my daddy doesn’t have them either, I wasn’t banking on riding off his coattails to attend games cheaper than everyone else. Lol

This just seems like such an unnecessary shot at me for literally zero reason. I’ve thought of you as a knowledgeable, informed, and respected poster on this board for quite some time. But, you’re actually just a dick.

Yeah, my family’s season tickets we’ve had for 30 years are in jeopardy of not being renewed. How horrible of me to not be happy!

Yeah I dont know why I didn’t consider the large number who likely won’t review.

He got in an argument with walkenvol the other day over who was more right. Lol

Don’t act surprised.

Very knowledgeable person, just an ass about everything.

Not a shot at you, you aren’t the only person who was planning/hoping to inherit their parents tickets.

And why not chip in and help your dad pay for them, could pay the difference of what it went up if your family wants to keep them…doubt it’s a ton.

Totally agree and I have told him that multiple times. I guess that is just who he is, gotta take the good with the smarta$$ replies. I'm too optimistic, but be pessimistic and you get ripped, also. No making bTo happy, unless you agree with his every opinion

I don't know if there will be a drop-off, or not. I just don't believe we will increase season ticket sales with this move. I think there will still be unsold tickets, and a largely pissed off portion of the fanbase that is expected to pay a lot more money to retain the same tickets to watch a similarly average product, and left wondering where the loyalty is from the university after their years of faithfully supporting the athletic department by continuing to purchase season tickets to watch bad football. Do I think all of those people will jump at the opportunity to pay the same amount for worse seats? No, I don't.

So, I can only guess that you and Danny are hedging your bets that there is an entire generation of fans who've been waiting for these better seats to come open at a higher cost and they've got money to burn. I think you're both about to find out that this is a different generation than the ones who previously filled those seats. A generation with access to 4K quality television at a much cheaper price, more entertainment options, in general, and one that has experienced nothing but disappointment from Tennessee football for the majority of their adult lives. But, hey, maybe those people truly have just been waiting for this very opportunity. We'll see. I still think this was a better idea to try and implement when the team is playing well and demand for tickets is on the rise. As it currently stands, attendance has dropped every year since 2016.

2016 avg attendance: 100968
2017: 95779
2018: 92984
2019: 87864
2020: COVID-19
2021: 87692 (currently)
