2022 Recruits

4000 posting on this thread - but few up to know inform on who will be the next recruit(s)
Hard to really know who the next recruit will be you have a list and some are visiting and guess we won't get any specific information until then. Coach Harper has been described as secretive as the FBI about who she is recruiting and about who might be leaning our way. Hard to get information when you have a coach and staff that plays it that way.

This is true. We had no idea about Oldacre or Jenkins. But we do know they are visiting now along with cooper. I do like how Kellie is going about recruiting. The 21 class seems to be a pretty good one ... no it doesn't have that top 5/top 10 player but it does have players that seemingly can help.

This 22' class does have a top 20 recruit right now who is getting invited to prestigious camps and games. it may end up with a couple more that can help.

and the 23' class to far away but the new coaches are making their presence really known with this class and getting peoples attention

I think we have a good idea who the recruits are. It's the commits that has everybody frazzled 😂

Talaysia Cooper, Amiya Jenkins, and Kyla Oldacre are confirmed recruits that will be visiting in the next few weeks

That haul…with Pissott would be cartwheel worthy! Just sayin’

You asked a question, those coaches won national championships and then turned the program over and it sustained success at the level it was at with no setbacks but in the hunt each year.
Please reread question. Clearly says “legendary” and gives examples. Tassel and Stoops were good but certainly not legendary. Just clarifying.

That’s debatable. Look up Tressels history before he got to OSU and Bob Stoops will be in the Hall of Fame. You rephrased the question (as to only who’s legendary) after I pointed out two programs. Just to clarify.

No I didn’t. My original question said Legendary and listed examples. But hey, if you think Stoops and Tressel are the same status as Pat Summit and Bear Bryant okay.

Those 3 visits could become commitments. I think that class, talent wise, will provide immediate help and the team will get better....maybe by a lot. Anyway, just wishful thinking I guess. Who would argue against a class of Pissott, Cooper, Oldacre, and Jenkins?

I haven't seen the last three play, but Oldacre's stats are certainly what you would want to see. She was very efficient on the court against whatever level of competition she has been going against.

If we got 2 out of the 3 visiting along with pissott that would be a good class that could help. After looking at Amiya Jenkins she is good and smooth and has a basketball savy to her.

How many years did it take Pat to recruit a player like Chamique Holdsclaw...about 20?

But yet she was able to compete for, and win, a few national championships before then.

Kellie knows what it takes and will get the job done.

The excuses really are laughable. Dawn Staley had to create excitement and tradition at a school that never had any of that. If Dawn had taken over here, she would have been able to utilize everything that was already in place…such as tradition, top notch facilities and the LV name. A good to great coach should be able to take this program and hit the ground running in recruiting. A so-so coach would have to prove themselves to players and coaches in the high school ranks.
Also, the idea that if you question what is going on over there, means you are a troll and not a true LV fan is ridiculous! That’s BS! If you aren’t questioning what is going on, I would question your fandom. If you were around when Pat had it rolling, then you should question how the mighty have fallen so fast. This program should recruit itself. All a competent coach needs to do is have the name recognition to get her foot in the door and get the right player excited and it would be rolling again. Instead, we are recruiting the overachieving 4 star players and expecting to compete with the heavyweights. Not happening! In fact, the longer we recruit these second tier recruits, it will be even harder to ever get back to where we should be. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A STAR! It can’t be a team full of complimentary players! You need an alpha! A Chamique…a Candace…those players would most likely not come to play for Coach Harper.

November will be a huge month as many of the uncommitted recruits may be waiting for the official early signing day as Azzi Fudd did last year for UConn. Some great programs will be waiting to see if their hopes come true for 22, or maybe some of the 23 girls will be using that day to make their commitment. I am hoping that all of us get to celebrate a commitment, just making us all the more excited for the start of the new season just days afterward. We have all speculated, we have all been very invested in following the best young players in the country. We all deserve to be rewarded, ( school and fans), so again, I hope we all will have that reason to go outside and scream for joy.

I don’t put much thought into their status, just your question asked and the continuation of the success of the grogram. I give you the last word here if you choose. FYI, two t’s in Summitt.

The main thing that seems to be going on with some posters is impatience. I have felt that as well, but not going to let it get to the point of negativity. 2021 was a lot better recruiting class than some give it credit for. We have the players lined up that could make 2022 even better. Any of the guards left and one top post player makes this class a success. If we don't get them out of high school still a great chance to get them out of the portal so everything has to play out and certainly a tough waiting game hopefully the wait will be worth the end results.

the closest most come to "patient" is being in a doctor's office

Your answer was very interesting to me being a college fan myself l. In college football, there's alot more coaches who national championships more than it is in women's basketball. Would you consider Danny Ford , Lloyd Carr, Dennis Erickson, Gene Stallings, Mack Brown, Larry Coker, Les Miles to be legends? I'm going off topic with this question.

Talked to some former players who played D1. How they decided which school to play for. It’s not just one reason and more complex than most of you realize.

1. Playing Time
2. Tradition
3. Coaching: System, religious beliefs, chemistry, race, gender, early relationship established. For example, Keyen Green said she wanted to play for a strong female coach: Harper. Many players won’t play for coaches who aren’t Christian.
4. The gossip mill. Includes players who have transferred and coaches. Geno and Westbrook prime examples.
5. Meeting current players.
6. Coaching changes: Recruits generally need a head coach and staff to be established for at least five years.
7. Dating: Weird, but true.
8. Game day atmosphere: Horston explained that TBA is a
terrific venue for playing.
9. Food: Weird, but also true. These are 17 year old girls.
10. Success of Lady Vols post-program: WNBA, announcing, etc.
11. Parents’ wishes: Holdsclaw’s grandmother fell asleep, literally, when Geno visited Holdsclaw’s home. Her mother adored Pat and DeMoss. Holdsclaw wasn’t sure about playing in a southern state, but between coaches and her grandmother’s preference, she came to UT.
12. Family members’ alma mater
13. How hard they were recruited
14. Facilities
15. Brand, especially with NIL: Lady Vols. What more can I say? Athletic department is on top of this
16. Degree programs
17. Location, including distance from home

not under the original question. But Erickson sustained and won 2 NC after Jimmy Johnson left (who some consider legendary), Les Miles sustained too after Saban. I’d say Brown underachieved in his time at Texas even with a NC.

Nice list.

I don't think number seven is weird at all.

Add how early they were recruited to number 13.

I always wondered how Fulmer recruited so well with his dry personality. Turns out he recruited Mama and was very successful doing so.
