I understand over-the-top praise is how you roll so this isn’t directed at just you. But, there are several posts today by people who seemingly don’t want to read anything but praise for UT on the board. I’m not clear to whom their critical posts are directed. I’ll say this. It isn’t much of a board if there isn’t some objective discussion and even disagreement. No program, no players or coaches are without flaws or areas that can be better. They are in a very public position by choice. We certainly aren’t an exception and many of us vividly remember when our expectations were high and think they should still be. It seems to me we can respectfully disagree on opinions. Belittling posters, especially for fact based comments, is unfortunate but is common enough on here as to be a sign of the times. We can do better.

No not at all. I got your point the first 10 times you made it a couple of years ago. It has become your mantra and most of your communication is on that subject but you probably didn't realize that. Like I said, I got it. I don't disagree with the premise and any fan will agree that recruiting the best players is more likely to give better results if they are properly coached. The extra thousand or so times you've brought it up afterwards didn't make it any more or less important, just something that the been discussed ad nausum. In the end, it doesn't matter. Kellie will sign the players she signs no matter what the VolNation recruiting experts think.

Less worry will be good for everyone especially when we can do nothing about the outcome except to postulate.

Justine is a 4 star? talaysia cooper is a 4 star player ? Although Kyla Oldacre is a "4 star" she was the MVP of the Nike Nationals. She also has a ton of interest from top colleges but she is just a "4-star". i don't understand what makes any of them second tier recruits. Matter of fact i wouldn't be surprised to see Oldacre jump in the rankings after her showing. Justine keeps getting invited to elite camps and showcases and was even MVP of a Nike Tourney with some of the top talent in the country.

Do you mean SIGN overachieving 4 star players? I am trying to understand what you are saying... there is a difference between recruiting and signing ...yes. Kellie is recruiting five star players and yes she needs to sign them which she can actually do this class.

As a LV fan i thought you would recognize a coach recruiting top talent...

PS you know damn well how the mighty fell so fast we all witnessed the train wreck in Holly's tenure and the most embarrassing part wasn't the losses (which is sad) it was the fights, dismissals, and lack of expectations being upheld. There are those of us who can do both question the staff, yell, curse, scream AND also appreciate the fact we didn't have to wait til the flipping selection show to know if we got in or not.

So while we may not piss and moan 24/7 that doesn't make us any less of LV fans as the ones who do b**** all the time

Stars depend upon the system dong the ranking. In Prospect Nation, Hoop Gurlz #1 Lauren Betts is 4.5 Stars same as Justine. PN only gave out 6 5 star rankings. HG gave out 19 5 star rankings. Blue Star, ASGR, and Prep Girls Hoops do not give stars.

My self, I would like to see tools ranking. Can a player score on 3 levels, rebound, defend, share the ball. Give one star for a player scoring on each level and one star for rebound, rebound, defend, share. That would make players 6 star players. In my system Lauren Betts is a 4 star player.

Out of that class it would be hard to dispute that number 13 Smith was not the best player in the class and that number 32 Howard and number 58 Naz Hillman were not top ten players in that class.

No one knows exactly what type of players we are recruiting they may be a lot better than some ranking service ranks them. Because the ones that talk about the players that have been recruited as not very good could be dead wrong. Until they actually play no one can determine what any player will achieve. All of the players we recruited in 2021 were the leaders of their teams meaning that they were the go to player on that team. All had some very impressive stats, but a few here still seem to make excuses as to why they had great stats and their play without any evidence to back it up. This is what gives me concern and a lot of other posters concern. Of course we like to see higher ranked players recruited that doesn't mean we are not recruiting very well now. Kellie is trying to reestablish Tennessee and she is doing well in getting that accomplished. It takes more than two years to get it done. The recruiting she has established thus far is no worse than second in the SEC. I think we'll get back in contention for number one in the next couple of seasons. Just remember when you talk on here about recruiting and you say higher ranked recruits you are slighting the signees and commitments that decided to come here. If you think that is good go ahead, but don't expect a lot of us to follow that lead. Holly recruited some highly ranked players that did not play very well. I am confident the players we are getting now will be better than a lot of those players. I don't care how many post you make about how terrible you think recruiting is. Just don't start it out as most of us believe or the majority believe because that is a lie and I don't want to be included in the negative recruiting analysis. I like the players we have of course we'll take higher ranked players if they fit what the staff is trying to do. Not saying Karoline, Sarah, Kaiya are not good never said that in any post just wanted to put that out there. But to take a step back we know what TN will bring to the table to start the season and that is a good team. Now with that being said we need to look at what the other teams are bring to the table and to see how we matchup. As for Holly all good,

I think the problem this board has, if it can be called a problem, is that it runs a wide gamut of opinions in a constrained space. We've got irrational exuberance, guarded optimism, "wait and see," pessimism, derisiveness, and even contempt. Mix all that in a pot where there's active but limited conversations and you get what we get here. Navigating the difference between the dismissive remarks and the overly-optimistic comments can be tricky when you're trying to participate in a conversation - when you go from "we're going to win a national title with this class" to "they didn't sign the number one player they'll never amount to anything" in the span of a few posts, well, it's a bit schizophrenic.

I admit the super negative stuff confuses me much more than the positive stuff - if you hold something in contempt then what value is there in participating? - but I see the disagreements as inevitable. Well, until they start winning big again and then everyone will settle down.

When I was these young kids age, I had recently discovered my ability to "collect owed money" for the kids that could not take care of their own business;...If a big kid owed them a dollar, I would get the money for them for about a 25 cent fee...

My secret was I did not mind getting hit, most of the bully's did...Just give me the dollar and I go away....

She was and she is a good player. Rennia was top ten as is JH. We did not make the sweet sixteen. A team goes with the best they can get - almost always. But, Gino, Dawn, Kim nor Pat have won championships the last twenty five years without a top five talent. That isn’t an opinion.
