2022 U.S. Senate Races

By itself? No ... but Republican-controlled state legislatures imposing complete abortion bans, without exceptions made for pregnancies which resulted from a rape, is a factor in some swing state elections such as Wisconsin - where a recent Fox News poll showed incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson trailing Democratic Party nominee Mandela Barnes by 4 points. There is no way Republicans can take control of the Senate, without winning this election.

It is common for democrats to hold slight leads in polls and get slaughtered.

Think Virginia and New Jersey governors races. Democrats celebrate being ranked in the preseason. Republicans celebrate championships.

No, that is not "common" at all, just because you can point to a few isolated elections. By all accounts, Sen. Ron Johnson is in big trouble. He has moved too far to the right in a purple state, and he has aligned himself too closely with Trump, in a state that Trump lost in 2020.

Republicans do nothing but whine about the officiating, after they have lost.

Johnson is not in trouble. Wishful thinking. You'll probably avoid this discussion after the election.

If the Presidential were held today, Trump would easily carry WI. This notion that WI has gone further left since 2020 is laughable. Right now, Ron Johnson isnt in trouble of losing his seat. We heard this in 2016 when McConnell was sounding the alarm and he ended up being wrong.

McConnell isn't helping so that is for sure. He's a rino and it is widely known his family profits off China. I personally forgot how but he seems soft on China. It will be tough to win a couple of races because the GOP has a couple of very bad candidates. Losing a state that should be a win is hard to overcome. There will be a few toss-ups.

McConnell makes more in the current minority set-up vs the GOP taking the majority but doing so with more America First type candidates.

This is about as much in denial, as a person can be.

You dont live in reality, you live in fakenews fairyland. Of course it doesnt make sense to you.
You just said that Sen. Mitch McConnell "makes more" (more what, exactly?) by being in the minority, than he would with "America First" Republican Senators... but I'm the one who doesn't live in reality???

That was a really stupid comment, and it doesn't demonstrate a good understanding of how the American federal government works.

McConnell's donors aren't America First. They would likely spend against candidates like Walker/Masters/Vance or at best not fund them. This IS how DC works. Also why Kevin McCarthy wants to win the House but not by too large a margin where a bunch of America First types get in and threaten his position as Speaker. For the same reasons.

There is not a scenario in which Sen. Mitch McConnell wouldn't prefer the Republican Party to be in majority control of the Senate chamber, so he can block any potential Supreme Court nominations from being confirmed during Biden's next two years in office (as well as any partisan legislation, which can't be filibustered, from being passed). THAT is how DC has worked, and continues to work.

How hard to McConnell work to get Hawley elected?

As I have said, no way Dems hold the Senate in this environment...I dont care how bad you think the candidates are...

Yeah why should a life in prison plea deal actually mean 'life in prison'?
Life in prison also obviously includes the possibility of parole or commuted sentence. The article was intentionally misleading and posted that way on purpose

I'm sure it was, but that asshat should die in there.

Raphael Warnock Raised The Alarm On Big Corporations Buying Up Homes, But Took Thousands From Wall Street Execs At A Firm Doing Just That

Democratic Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock recently sounded the alarm on big corporations buying up swathes of homes in his state. However, he’s taken campaign donations from Wall Street executives at a private equity firm engaged in that very practice.

Warnock’s campaign has raked in almost $38,000 since 2020 from executives at Blackstone, a Wall Street firm with a roughly $130 billion market cap buying up homes in Georgia and across the U.S., according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records. At the same time, Warnock said in a July hearing Georgia is “in the middle of a housing crisis” and raised concerns “over large institutional investors,” which some experts say are driving up rent prices and displacing minority communities.

Trump folks ripping on Mitch make me laugh. Trump does not own the Supreme Court without Mitch being better at politics then dems. His single biggest legacy is bc of Mitch.

Mitch played that perfectly. Give him full credit. Sadly, I would say Trump didn't fully capitalize on his 3 picks. As usual, he listened to all the wrong people.
