2022 U.S. Senate Races

Funny, when I told @BowlBrother85 that she was planning a run for higher office a while back he said that was crazy. The day she lost her primary, she said she was looking at a run for President in 24.

I can't for the life of me see how y'all can't see these things coming. Are you often surprised with the plot twist in movies?
Her decision to take a stand against Trump over how he handled losing the 2020 election has in no way benefited her politically. This is a stupid premise.

No, it wasn't. She began criticizing Biden's climate plan in February of 2021, but she has remained critical of it ever since, and it just recently passed.

The only "key issue" for Republicans in Wyoming is the unconditional devotion to Donald Trump. That is the only thing that changed for Liz Cheney.
She screwed herself because she became all about one issue. If she wanted to stay in office she would have handled the 1/6 commission differently.
All she had to do is say that she was serving to make sure that it was non partisan and fair. Defend that position and talk about what mattered to her constituents during the primary and she wins easily. However, she saw an opportunity to run for president by being the anti-Trump candidate and she took it. Unfortunately for her (and I'm sure it was focus grouped) She chose to get into a pissing match with Trump and his supporters, and it cost her.

Good post. Anyone with an average intelligence quotient understand this.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen posted on here. If running for President was an objective of hers, then she was much better served to remain in good stead with the Republican Party base, because she isn't getting any support at all from anyone else. No liberal is ever going to vote for someone with her voting record.

She sacrificed her seat in the House of Representatives the minute she was publicly critical of Donald Trump. The unconditional support and defense of Donald Trump IS THE ONE AND ONLY thing which matters to her constituents.

Anyone with average intelligence would understand that she had NOTHING to gain politically by joining the 1/6 Commission and opposing Trump's conduct in the aftermath of the election. The only logical explanation is that this was purely a matter of principle for her.

You aren't who she was hoping to get. She was wanting people that are conservative that wouldn't vote for Trump.

Let's say for a minute that I am way off base and suggesting something stupid....... After getting trounced in her primary, why did she say she was looking towards a 24 presidential bid?

You live a deceived life.
I do not like Liz Cheney, but she had nothing to gain politically by joining the 1/6 Commission. The people arguing otherwise, don't want to face the reality that there is only one litmus test for Republican Party membership now, and that is complete subservience to Donald Trump. The GOP is a cult of personality.

Trump is far and away the most popular figure in the Republican Party right now. His approval rating among likely Republican voters has remained between 80-90% since he left office. How many votes would that even be? Nowhere near enough to come close to winning the party nomination. There is no logic to the argument that she stood to gain something politically by opposing Trump.

To get a instant pulse on if she has the backing to pursue. Weak pulse response as the left has no more use for her and she won't capture enough of the conservative vote to move the needle.

This is comically absurd. Any time a Republican takes a stand against Trump's immoral conduct, you immediately assign a self-serving motive to it. In this case, it doesn't make any sense at all.
Everything a career politician does is self-serving, you are Luther are beyond naive.

Because she clearly sees the devastating destruction of Trumpism and is desperately hoping she can turn the tide of stupidity in the republican party.

In your world, everything everybody does is self-serving.........or at least should be.
The key is obviously to be smart enough to create a system where the best way for a politician to be self-serving is by doing what is right for society. Same with business/capitalism by the way.

But endorsed her dad and his ways? No need to mention Liz opposing her own family and their personal choice of gay marriage for the longest time. She was part of her own stupidity. Believing she could run is on par with those that got excited about Michael Avenatti running years ago.

I understand the cynicism towards elected officials. I really do.

In this specific case, however, any political ambitions which Liz Cheney may have had, weren't advanced by taking such a public stand against Donald Trump. The only motive which makes any sense, is that she took such an unpopular stance, based on principles.

Warnock Voted for COVID Bill That Sent $75K to Social Justice Group He Founded

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D., Ga.) voted for a COVID-19 relief bill that steered $75,000 to a nonprofit social justice group he founded that's run by the church that supplements his Senate salary to the tune of more than $100,000, according to government records.

The Martin Luther King Sr. Collaborative, a community activist group that Warnock led as CEO until at least 2020, sought and received COVID relief funding from the American Rescue Plan in September 2021, according to Georgia financial records. The Martin Luther King Sr. Collaborative was founded by the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Warnock is still employed as lead pastor and which paid him $120,000 last year in addition to his Senate salary.

Warnock voted for the American Rescue Plan in March 2021, two months after ousting Republican Kelly Loeffler in a special Senate election. The bill passed on a 50-49 partisan split, with Warnock giving Democrats the 50th vote necessary to put it over the top.

Most Republicans "endorsed her dad and his ways," while he was Vice President. What a stupid thing to make an issue out of. There weren't any Republican members of Congress from 2001-2009 speaking out against the Bush Administration, or the war in Iraq. To the contrary, they defended it.

This is nothing unusual or illegal. In light of everything that is coming out about Herschel Walker, it's funny that you seem to consider this some type of bombshell story.
