Alumni Hall is running the show at OMD now and has moved the store 10 minutes from campus and it is glorious! They’ve also added infant, toddler and youth sizes and are supporting all 9 Lady Vol programs. As great as it is that programs are killing it across the board, it actually hurts is because it’s always going to be about football first in this fan base. Terri Holder is running the collective exclusively now, but we can’t depend on only fan support, she’s going to have to hit up the big money donors and corporate donations and not just set up fall festivals and dinners or we’re going to get further behind in NIL
$800k
After giving it some thought, I think our LV collective needs $800k annually to secure our recruiting status at a top 5 level. This funding would target elite recruits and secure them 4-year NIL deals in the local Knoxville area.
You think or you know ? That would make the case even worse if we do and the recruits are still choosing elsewhere. I have not heard of any sort of similar deal in knoxville where "Each player" gets at least 25K. I know our top players are getting NIL money but not "Each player".
Yet we continue to say NIL is not a factor...we gotta wake up folks !
What’s wrong with getting players from the portal? All I got to say is this is what happen with Holly towards the end she missed a couple classes and we had to plug in some three star type players and the losses started luckily Kellie has the portal to fall back on unlike Holly but Kellie has got to figure out what the issue is and get it fixed ASAP we can’t become Portal U..
We are about to have the best season in years. Either we score recruits the old fashioned way or they join us after the portal. Some portal recruits will soon find out their coaches changed after the ink dried on the signing letter. Tennessee has always had, and will continue to have, a culture where coaches care about their players. Even when we had bad seasons, the LVs did not get desperate and start using questionable recruiting tactics. Proud of that.
Its a business and has to be treated as such. You don't market the team,,,you use the exposure of the athletes to promote women's sports, by proxy buy their tshirts.
Its a business
its all about how you market it and how aggressive you are. TN has THE women's brand. Now that NIL is the new standard look for more teams to go Lady-____'s
NIL will soon force this
if it doesn't,,,then it wasn't handled right.
I firmly believe this to be true. They will be here sooner or later, especially after they sit on the bench when they expected to play.We are about to have the best season in years. Thank you! Integrity still means something within the Lady Vol program, and I hope Kellie and Samantha and Joy and Jon -- or whomever is running the program at any point in the future -- never cave to what must be immense pressure to do whatEVER they have to do to get signatures.
I admit that it's frustrating to know we're coming to within a hair's width of signing some terrific high school talent, only to watch them go elsewhere while strongly suspecting there may be some shady dealings behind some of their decisions. As an imperfect human I haven even joked here myself that maybe it's time we chuck our high ideals and join the circus.
But I don't really mean that. Look at the program now. Without ever having resorted to shenanigans we're right up there near the top again, and actually have a legitimate shot at contending for championships! My gawd. I'm so darn proud of that, ESPECIALLY since I know no compromises to the program's strong legacy of "doing things the right way" have occurred along the way.
It will be interesting to see how dollar differentials affect team chemistry (talking overall not just SC).25,000 is "minimum wage" at SCar for sharing in team-related NIL. Do you think Boston and Cooke are limited to $25,00) on their "outside" NIL?
Alert!! Sometimes things just don’t work out. There is a least some level of luck/randomness even in recruiting. Certainly not completely random but it is a factor. Not everything , but who else do we blame for striking out in a big year ? The players ? The cheerleaders ? How about the AD ? Overall im allowed to express my discontent . We will be a great team and this year will be a big year in future recruiting so i now shift my focus to the season .
What are "shenanigans" nowadays?
NIL deals are legit and legal. Ask the Supreme Court. Admittedly, the boundaries are gray thanks to NCAA inaction.
"Negative recruiting?" Sorry, that's just a facet of human life. If a rival/competitor has a flaw, it is exploited. That's life. I can't believe anybody whines about it (not saying you are but others in this thread.) Is it "negative recruiting" to point out the depth of talent that another team has on their roster while pushing early playing time to a recruit? I dunno'. Seems like a whiner's issue to me.
The hundred dollar booster handshake seems like the only "shenanigan" left.
NIL was meant to help players after they got to a college and were playing. It was not meant to be a bribery free-for-all, which is what it is now. Are we to understand that recruiting has come down to a bidding war between various schools--whoever offers the kid the most money wins? That's seedy--greedy. Some say it's a business. No, it's not, even if football and basketball have been corrupted by commercialization. It's still college.

what's worse is the fact that money IS talking and you don't have to be a 30 thousand enrollment school to produce money-makers. Look at Duke enrollment 9000,,,but duke graduates get money. Harvard, Cornell,,,little schools like that could become NIL landmines
Sorry, but we aren't THE brand anymore. Haven't been for a while.
