2023 Recruiting

Do these 15 players have full scholarship offers or are these just players of interest that are being recruited? There are not currently 15 openings for the fall of 2023. Why would a coach offer more scholarships than she has room for? It seems a bit disingenuous. Are they conditional offers that are only valid if someone better doesn't come along?

These players reported an offer but no one reports the type of offer. It would seem counterintuitive to limit offers to 2 or 3 a class. I guess it would work if we were guaranteed to sign them but I'm pretty sure we are not quite in that position right now.

Because both players explicitly said when they committed to UConn they wanted to use all their remaining eligibility, right? Stevens was projected to be a high WNBA draft pick, and the other one hasn't even formally announced she's leaving yet.

You should point to better examples next time, these have absolutely no relevance to Powell...

Evidently you weren't paying attention. The relevance is that both ladies said they were coming for 2 seasons. Z only stayed one and at this time Dorka is hedging on staying 2. As far as being a high draft pick Evina was #6 on ESPN's mock draft and she decided to come back. I'll explain the point; Don't count on players staying or leaving in today's culture regardless of what they say.

There are several scenarios regarding offers being accepted. Coaches have ranked the players on the basis of need and ability to meet needs, academics and personality profile. They also have several scenarios that affect need. For example, your team needs a post. They have offers out to several posts and power forwards. If your top post accepts, you grab them right away. If your 2nd ranked post accepts first, coaches have been known to tell the player that the team wants them but there is the possibility of #2 being recruited over. Number 2 is given the opportunity to go elsewhere but encouraged to wait and see how the recruiting of posts develops. Say #1 post accepts, then The offer to #2 is pulled. But they coach may keep #2 on a string depending on the need for a big wing. If you don't get a big wing, then the desire for #2 goes back up and you may go pick them up to play the 4 (if they can). If the #1 post goes elsewhere, then the case to accept the #2 grows.

The top coaches try to lock up their #1s as quickly as possible while the #2 may accept prematurely in an attempt to steal a scholly from the better player.

It's all a very elaborate game played on a large chess board. At stake are the futures of young people and the careers of coaches.

Then I'm sure you can provide evidence where they said this, as Powell has...

First, it is hypocritical to ask for documentation without providing any for your comment.

Second, if documentation was your issue you should have said that in your first comment. Since you change the vein of your point, this is just another troll try to provoke anger/frustration.

I wish you well and hope you seek treatment for your social disorder.

Seriously? My "documentation" was Volfaninfl2. You know this because it was the post you initially responded to. And I trust that poster a lot more than I trust you.

Second, if documentation was your issue you should have said that in your first comment.

Then you weren't paying attention. Comprehension is so hard:

I'll take your personal insult in trying to change the subject to mean you lied, again, and neither player actually said this. As I said, you gave poor examples that are completely irrelevant....

This is the Louisville way. Offer 30 and some may come. Seems to work. They have landed an awful lot of all Americans doing it that way.

I would say there are far more than 15 that have been offered. I know Collier has been offered cause Maria 247 says she has. Every school offers 25 to even 50 players first come first serve for most. Some may be on hold waiting to see what another player at their position does. Right now I'm feeling good about Samuels being a Lady Vol and according to Booker were in her final three. Those two would be huge for Tennessee.

Samuels is a special person and a special player.

Collier?

i know one of the other signees: commits mentioned how she truly wanted to play for WVU but because players returned that she had to change course. So i could see where one would think her scholarship was pulled or something else. She doesn't seem like a kid afraid to compete for time either. Ace also seemed excited to sign there. Was it a rash decision? I could see her at a Iowa St or Alabama
The other girl never signed with WVU even being committed for some time to her home state school. Ace was part of the original class that signed on NSD in Nov.

So needorange's cautionary tale regarding Jasmine Powell was completely inaccurate? I'm shocked and dismayed...
You insist on making yourself look foolish. In regards to my statement regarding Dorka, I said, "at this time Dorka is hedging on staying 2 ". If she wasn't 'hedging' there would be no need for an announcement. I know comprehension is difficult for you, so I will define hedging. Hedging is to avoid making a clear, direct response or statement.

For your comment I am neither shocked or dismayed. It is typical of one who chooses to interpret the written word with their emotion as opposed to intellect

True, you did try to walk it back some when other UConn fans called you out on it.... after you already had her out the door:

She walked on senior night so it's going to leave a hole.

No need for butthurt just because I exposed you to everyone in a blatant lie:

The relevance is that both ladies said they were coming for 2 seasons.

Cool. Seems like Ace may have dodged a bullet as WVU just declined the WNIT because of injuries and players who were going to enter the portal.

Wishing Ace the best.... The moans died down from those mad at Kellie for signing Justine over Ace. I'm sure Ace will be successful wherever she goes and i'm happy Justine is on the way (hoping she is a Jordan Brand all american along with the McD honor).
