2023 Transfer Portal - General NCAA Thread

Conversely, let’s write off every freshman based on what they do in their first year. Better to do that instead of running the risk of ending up with some deadweight upperclassman like Grant Williams or Admiral Schofield.
Haha. Well played. I can name Many guys who came on late in addition to those guys, like Richardson, Alexander, Yarbrough, Hasilp had a breakout year 2001-02.

You’re not letting me out of this easily, are you?

Does the transfer wear glasses?

What do y’all think about Ishmael Leggett? Sophomore, would be nice to have him and ZZ for a couple years together. Then you potentially add Ahmad Nowell to that PG group.

Leggett
16.4 ppg
5.8 rpg
2.4 apg
39% FG
1.4 steals per game
84.5% FT%

I like what I see here...

6'1" 190lbs, played in 94 games and started 82 while averaging 31.4 mpg for his career.

13.1 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.6 spg (but he's averaged over 16 points and 5 rebounds a game the past 2 seasons as the main starter).

Shoots 45% FG and a career 31.1% from 3 (but has been closer to 34% the past 2 seasons).

This guy seems to fit what we are looking for. Would be a nice addition.

I don’t know what kind of change his frame can take. He can put on muscle, of course; but he may not ever get enough bulk to play hard inside. I think the key for Phillips is space. If we can score from other spots, he can shoot and drive.
Yes he definitely can’t be expected to play in post. His natural position is SF. Just need to improve everything, perimeter shooting, strength, decision making, dribbling, etc…but he has a high ceiling. We rarely ran plays for him the last half of the season, and he clearly lost some confidence.

Barnes loves lefties. Who would be best match?
Lefties are fine I just hope they can use both hands and finish with both hands unlike what we had the past few yrs that had trouble making layups with their left hands much less both!

Somehow the fact that this kid is actively booed for not playing D tells me he isn’t a fit. Man, he’s a shooter though.
Yeah. Don't think he's a fit with what Barnes is looking for. Suspect a lot of head butting would be goin' on. Found this as well:
The Glens Falls native was SU’s leading scorer this past season, averaging 16.4 points per game. During his four seasons with the Orange, JGIII was best known for his 3-point shooting, knocking down over 40% in his junior year and 38% as a senior. However, his subpar defense and tendency to play “hero ball” made him a polarizing figure among the Syracuse fanbase.

Would you please add "-- No confirmed Tennessee interest" or "-- all schools" or "-- All NCAA" to this thread name?

We will have two lists, with the other one only for players with confirmed Tennessee interest: Tennessee Transfer Portal Targets

If I recall correctly, you yourself suggested this at one point. It keeps our active cases from getting buried and lost inside a giant thread. Thanks for making this read. I've been following it.
