2023 Transfer Portal - General NCAA Thread

McCollum/Ledlum, personally, but I’d be stocked with Menifield though, seems like Louis and Bama may be the teams to watch according to Andrew Slater

Hopefully Tylor Perry from North Texas enters the portal, kid is a studdddd

I have heard of perry but not too familiar with his game, I'll watch some highlights

I wouldn't be mad one bit if we were to land a kid like Grill too. Got kicked off of ISU but he csn COOK

A great thing about Uros, he’ll never be a cancer in the locker room if he has to sit down for a long stretch of games. One selfish, bad attitude could poison the entire team.

Barnes teams tend to hold it together and keep results at the historical W-L pace even when adversity hits. TN had a Sweet 16 even after an irreplaceable piece was lost at the end of the regular season.

Dude, I love that you’re a knowledgeable and regular poster here on the board, but I have to ask the obvious question everyone wants to know….is this a Uros Plavsic burner account? Are we talking to Uros? You have been the most ardent Uros defender for 4 years and even after his silly technicals that hurt the team on numerous occasions this year you’re still here making a case for why we need to bring him back again rather than moving on. It’s wild.

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. TGO mental gymnastics to avoid any minutely negative assessment of any facet of Tennessee basketball

How many technicals actually occurred?

I would be very concerned about the state of this program If we were unable to move on from Uros this off-season

Like 10 out of 10 concerned

Replying to posts calling to run off one of only a couple of upperclassmen is hardly minutia. The player bashing is chronic on this board. They all aren’t going to be Kobe and Jordan and Ewing. There are 300 plus teams.

No one expects every upperclassmen to be Kobe or Jordan, you can’t possibly think that’s a good counter argument. Can you point to one person on this board saying Uros should have been the Dirk Nowitzki of Tennessee? Uros has been a fine role player, but nothing about his play has screamed “we need to keep.” I agree with BTO that I think Awaka and Aidoo will be just fine at recouping that production we lose from Uros.

To answer your question, I don’t have an exact count on technical called on Uros, but you know as well as I and everyone else on this board that he had an abnormal number of dust ups and flagrant this year. It was a constant theme. I would hope you wouldn’t just brush those aside. I get that Uros is “your guy” but you have to be able to admit that his decision-making on the court at times was extremely costly. His decision to literally shove Goldin to the ground in the 2nd half against FAU to get a flagrant 1 was extremely costly at the worst possible time. And he has shown zero ability to reign it in no matter how often Barnes calls him on it.

LJ would be at the very top of my list. Looks like a lot of speculation about Dickinson going to Maryland since they just hired his high school coach to be on staff,

I mean...

Uros was 9th on the team in MPG, 7th on the team in RPG, 6th on the team in BPG, 8th on the team in PPG

He was statistically one of the worst non walk-on players on the team that played more than 10 minutes. I wish him all the best, but with 2 incoming bigs and 2 returning bigs I'm fine with us moving on.

I really hope Tennessee is able to get Grill from ISU

I have seen some of his game and that's exactly the type of player we need, a scorer that is confident.

Part of Barnes's problem thus far has been having too many role players. Need to have a batman and Robin on a team

Glad to see us going after some scorers, although, I don't know who this kid is

It isn't really an argument to run him off. It's more of an argument to not hamstring the program by offering him an opportunity that was only afforded to him because of a global pandemic canceling a postseason tournament that we wouldn't have been a part of to begin with. In theory, Uros is getting another free year because he misses the SECT and then NIT. And that's fair, but Tennessee is under no obligation to honor at the expense of finding a more productive and disciplined player.

Plavsic is a perfect role player. So what if he only plays 8 or 10 minutes? He doesn’t beyatch about it. He’s ready to go as needed and that role is generally going to be to knock heads. Fouls come with that role. Don’t need to replace him with somebody that’s afraid of physical play in the 9th or 10th most utilized spot on the roster. Lots of young players stashed away for development can’t accept their lack of minutes and are mad until they transfer out. All while using TN’s resources the get that development and spreading discontent.

I trust Barnes and his decades of dealing with roster management. If he doesn’t invite Uros back I have no problem with it. If he wants him back I’m great with that decision as well.

Best 2-point FG% (after a 4 game walk-on).

4th highest rebounding rate.
