2023 Transfer Portal - General NCAA Thread

No doubt against the dregs of D1. So was Key.

I get the concern and his 2 games this year against legit opponents he struggled/wasn’t as good, but look at his performances against P5 opponents in 2020-2021, that’s no fluke

Uros immediately picks up two or three fouls when he comes in because he is targeted by the refs for his past stupid antics. It's not always about the technicals.

Which is why I like to see him starting. The refs are so inconsistent, I’d rather Uros get 2 quick fouls than the others while the refs are being figured out.

Wins the opening tips.
7’1”
Good passer. Maybe great for a 7 footer.
Great screener. Creates space for perimeter shooters.
Big target for inbounds passes and for players that have picked up their dribble.
Good hands.
Takes up space in the paint when on defense.
Can now score around the basket.
Good rebounder and fundamentally sound at boxing out.
Doesn’t have many mental lapses on defense.
Been in the system for 4 years.
Outstanding team first player.

The portal is loaded with lesser contributors. But let’s get one of them instead because some are tired of him and aren’t able to appreciate him for the under the radar contributions he makes.

Losing ORN and Uros will prove to be a great thing for Aidoo and Awaka. We saw flashes from both of them this season.

Maybe they would instead benefit from competing with them in practice. Dunking on walk-ons won’t help their games very much.

I think you’re the only person I’ve seen consistently praise a player for winning the opening tip 😂 keep being you TGO

I gave you a like b/c Uros rarely won the opening tip. 😆. I like the guy and he’s well liked by his teammates, but played a lot smaller than his height. He should’ve been a much better shot blocker at 7’1 and had more than one post move. It’s Time to move on if Barnes wants to get beyond sweet 16.

Yeah I almost said that I felt like Uros wasn’t even all that great at winning the tip anyway but it seemed futile

Mizzou developing into a decent program. If they get this guy and love, they will again be a tough matchup next year for sure.
He lets his players fire away that is for sure. A player’s coach (if that is such a thing) and will be attractive to a lot of guys in the portal. If they successfully keep St. Louis hoopers in state they will be dangerous.

A 2nd year Awaka should be able to give you anything Uros would, minus the technicals and silly plays that hurt his team…no reason to bring Uros back.
Whew. Thought the board had gone bat chit crazy with all the talk about keeping Plavi and how hard he'd be to replace.

I’ve done it 2 or 3 times over a month. It kind of matters when defensive games are often won or lost in the 50s. EVERY possession is huge. I wonder if TN won the tips in the Vandy and Missouri games.

Why do you think Awaka got pulled really quickly versus FAU? Because he gave away an uncontested basket.

I was paying attention. Uros was getting them. Aidoo wasn’t when he started. But that’s just one item in the list that I made. How about his passing? His rebounding? His positioning on both ends of the floor?

It’s kind of weird that Uros had 3 or fewer fouls in 31 of 34 games. But he “immediately picks up 2 or 3 fouls when he comes in”.

Those 52 wins as an upperclassman (and frequent starter) really suck.

There’s a difference between being a starter and being a key contributor. Aside from a small handful of games, Uros was nothing more than a decent role player with a low ceiling which shouldn’t be hard to replace. Averaged about 14 minutes per game this season and last season. Plus, we can be rid of his antics which weren’t helpful in the slightest and at times were very detrimental.

He’s an excellent role player - not a “decent” role player.

His “antics” matched his role. He was supposed to play physical. Not to be soft as white bread.
