2023 Transfer Portal - General NCAA Thread

He’s an excellent role player - not a “decent” role player.

His “antics” matched his role. He was supposed to play physical. Not to be soft as white bread.

Defend him all you want, but most objective viewers agree he’s an average player who needs to move on.

Never before have I seen someone defend 14 minutes, 5 points, 2 fouls, and 3 rebounds a game as much as you.

Highest FG percentage among the regulars.

That’s what role players do. They only play a handful of minutes and add a different look.

I don’t think you understand what objective means.

I mean, it is essentially a vote of zero confidence in Barnes to suggest that Uros will be hard for Barnes to replace.

Nothing wrong with replacing him in 2024. But oh look. Slip a cheap shot in at Barnes while you’re busy roasting a big contributor to a 25 win, Sweet 16 team that was ranked EVERY week of the 2022-23 season. And an SECT champion the year before.

Seriously...just stop it. You're going to die alone on this hill, we all know it. We've seen this movie dozens of times. No one agrees with you so you dig in and spend days attempting to defend an indefensible position out of spite and arrogance. No one is digging on Barnes, and Uros was a minor bit character in all of those accomplishments in which you've tried to nominate him for Best Supporting Actor.

You seem triggered because I don’t share the ignorant opinion being hammered.

My posts include facts. Uros sucks and needs to move on is weak sauce.

Objective means every single person in the world but you.

I’m not alone.

I doubt that you’ve even understood my points. I’ve been countering the dumb reasons being posted for why he should git. You probably didn’t notice the one about me being fine with whichever direction the staff wants to go.
I did notice that, actually. It doesn’t make your arguments any better. I can only imagine how triggered you’ll be when we lose the first jump ball of the season next year.

Did you get triggered by the 8 or 10 points that I made in addition to getting the extra possession from the opening tip?

Great teams have role players. Who are they going to be after Uros is gone? It could turn out like the SDSU team today that had a bunch of selfish play, jacking up brick 3s, when they had a chance to cut the lead to a single possession. Instead of playing soundly, they were thinking they’d have the multi-generational Michael Jordan moment like in 1982. Teams need experienced players in the mix.

Not triggered, here. I'm...like most everyone else...just over the same ol' song and dance from you trying to beat people over the head with your opinion. Your white knight routine is tired and loses effect when you claim that people are constantly saying Uros sucks and needs to move on, when in reality, the people you are primarily arguing with aren't "hammering" the version of events you’re purporting.

Uros was a fine role player who had a lot of flaws that you simply want to minimize or mask behind obscure stats. Sorry, but admitting that he was a limited player and it is time for him to move on doesn't equal "Uros sucks".

Mike Wilson said in the News Sentinel that Barnes has to find a center piece in the transfer portal and said that is the number one objective in this year's transfer portal.

Yeah, their guys had some bad moments in the national championship. The guy you’re caping for had some terrible moments in key spots of the S16 that propelled a run by FAU. I hope we can upgrade on our role guys - Uros would not be getting minutes on either team playing tonight. If Aidoo and ORN had not been maddeningly inconsistent, he probably wouldn’t have been getting minutes for us this year either.

Those 52 wins as an upperclassman (and frequent starter) really suck.

The 52 wins were greet but we don’t lose many of those games w/o Uros. This is a subject we can agree to disagree as neither of us will change our minds. Again, I don’t know the young man. My son does and thinks he’s a great guy who brings a mental toughness to the team. I just think it’s time to move on.

You’re acting overly emotional about a single player whose time has come and gone. It is seriously weird how far you are going to defend Uros’ honor. Just makes me think even more you might actually be Uros Plavsic in disguise.

Go check the in-game threads for the “Uros sucks” mentions. It’s been going on over his entire career.

There’s even a board rule to RESPECT THE PLAYERS.

Uros doesn’t suck, but his on court antics hurt us so many times during the season. Like the flagrant 2 in the FAU game. We were already down, and he compounded the issue by pushing a guy to the ground and giving them 2 free throws and the ball back. He’s also one of the weakest rebounders that I’ve ever seen with his size. You argue that he’s a high percentage scorer, which is true, but about everything else he does is average or below average. He also just kills us with his mental mistakes and over aggression. I’m glad he’s moving on, but that doesn’t mean I think he’s absolutely horrid. He had his strengths but I think we can definitely do better.

I haven't seen Tennessee listed on any way too early too 25 for next season

They are really doubting us next season, but I think we are definitely a top 25 team as long as we can return or get someone like Vescovi, along with a scoring pg and dominant big.

I'd say we would have a top 10 team

I believe it’s you who doesn’t know what objective means…

Objective: (of a person or their judgment) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.

The above applies to most of us on here seeing as we aren’t letting personal feelings or obscure statistics influence our opinion of him as a player. We’ve watched him for four years now. The eye test supports that it is time for him to move on. He won’t be hard to replace if Barnes is competent which he certainly is.

That doesn’t mean Uros sucks. It just means that he was a middle of the road player who had a few strengths but at the end of the day was very limited. Plenty of those in the portal.

They were 23rd in the one ESPN put out last night. That assumed no transfers, all seniors leaving, and Phillips declaring. I think it’s way premature to even be starting a ranking, but I would guess that most are making those same assumptions in putting together their lists.
