2024 Presidential Race

How do you explain the "They're in it equal," remark?

There is nothing equal about the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Medal of Honor. What does the Presidential Medal of Freedom even reward, besides being in the good graces of the President? The stated criteria is vague. It's basically just whoever the hell the President wants to hang a medal on.
He said it is the equivalent for a civilian award.

The paint ball story is tied directly to policy. As usual, you’re more concerned about the words of a moron than you are about policies that actually affect people’s lives.
The words of a moron have significance.....especially when that moron is POTUS.

Plus...........I've clearly stated that I fully support mandatory curfews in times of civil unrest.

I HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THE POLICY.

No, I'm talking about his last words in that video ...

"They're in it equal."

.... and for the love of God, there is no such thing as a civilian award, which is equivalent to that of the Freakin' Medal of Honor. That is stupid.

So who has brain worms? Who has dementia? Trump has made reference to Silence of the Lambs at 28% of his 70+ campaign speeches.

It's all very confusing until you frame it this way (but it's still bizarre and reflective of his mental state):

Even I don't think he's that far gone. He can't possibly think that "seeking asylum" or "in asylum" is the same thing as being in a mental institution. Nobody is THAT stupid.

First, equivalent and equal are not synonyms. Equal means the same in every way. Equivalent means similar but not identical. You can absolutely make the case that these awards are equivalent in some ways. They are each the highest honor you can receive in each respective domain (civilian vs military).

As for "They're in it equal"? I don't even know what that is supposed to mean. Who is they? What is the "it" he's referring to? You have to make assumptions about what he's saying because it a throwaway line of gibberish he just tacked on at the end. You're automatically assuming the worst because you hate him.

I'm glad you feel that way, obviously you won't be voting for Harris then.

I actually think trump is fascinated with Hannibal Lector. Just as he is with Hitler and other human monsters.

What could be more narcissistic and a show of personal superiority than cannibalism?

No, you can't because the recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom are left completely up to the discretion of the President. The criteria for receiving the Medal of Honor is more involved and clearly stated with a lengthy chain of command :

1) The act of bravery must occur while engaged in an action against foreign opposition or an enemy of the United States.

2) The act must be so outstanding, that it can be distinguished as above and beyond the call of duty. It must involve the risk of his or her life and this act must be confirmed by at least two eye witnesses.

There is also a lengthy recommendation process, which can take an excess of 18 months, with intense scrutiny every step of the way. I will post a link to this process in a minute. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is just done at the whims of the President. You are dead wrong. It has NOTHING in common with what it takes to receive the Medal of Honor. It is asinine to even suggest such a stupid thing.

The other explanation is that he's confusing the backstory from the movie Scarface for real life (when he says "they're emptying their asylums" and **** like that). Whatever the explanation is, it's not a good one for Trump.

Right wingers with any credibility and consistency at all should be using those lines about Biden being senile and old on their guy Trump. It's so much more clear how worrisome Trump's aging mental state is now that Biden is out of the way.

Of course, you could also say, "Trump isn't confused, he's lying and fearmongering." which is a great defense.

I agree but this happened on the front porch of a residence which is not a common or public space. If the cops were forcing people off their apartment balcony and firing at them I think you would see the same indignation.
I agree with a few nitpicky caveats that aren’t worth going into.

I think it was poorly written and left open the possibility of bad judgment, which should be anticipated when writing things that have to be enforced by police.

Just skipping to the end of the book: My initial take on Walz is that he’s a pretty average guy who didn’t set out to get into politics but has made it a very long ways on charisma and affability. He’s not somebody who has all the answers or who can look at a new and novel situation and intuit the right path. He has done some things that likely helped people, but doesn’t seem to contemplate laws will ultimately be enforced by violence. He seems well suited as a VP candidate or legislator. He’s not somebody I would vote for for governor or president.

You're using a lot of words to say that the awards are similar but not identical. Thanks for agreeing with me.

IMO someone I wouldn't vote for as President isn't suited to be VP, they are just 1 breath away from the big office. Walz has absolutely no business being in the big office. But of course neither does Harris or Trump.

They are in no way similar.

It is an offensive comparison, in fact. Click on the Recommendation Process. That alone is a world of difference.
