2024 Presidential Race

The words of a moron have significance.....especially when that moron is POTUS.

Plus...........I've clearly stated that I fully support mandatory curfews in times of civil unrest.

I HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THE POLICY.
of course you don't. no one expects you to ever take exception to something a Dem does.

I hadn't heard that one, but I've heard him sing the praises of authoritarians, that's for sure.
"Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, "My New Order," which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of "My New Order" in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade."

IMO someone I wouldn't vote for as President isn't suited to be VP, they are just 1 breath away from the big office. Walz has absolutely no business being in the big office. But of course neither does Harris or Trump.
I don’t know enough to say he has no business being president, but he wouldn’t be my choice. I felt the same way about Barrack Obama. Wasn’t somebody I voted for but he was within the parameters of a competent President. I really don’t like the Covid hotline thing or the fact that he defended it. I don’t like that he signed this particular draft of the curfew order.

Both of those actions together or even taken individually disqualify him for my vote. He's either too dumb to know what he did or believes what he did was right.

Is she any different than a run-of-the-mill D?
Her policy stances were more in line with liberal Twitter than “run-of-the-mill D” in 2019. I was not a fan and would not have voted for her against Trump prior to 1/6/21.

It’s enough that I don’t think I will vote for her unless she convincingly explains why she moved off those positions, which I don’t think she intends to do.*

*- I think trying to falsely portray oneself as a gettable vote on here is pathetic, so in the interest of full disclosure, I would crawl through the biohazard disposal dumpster of an HIV clinic to vote against Trump if I lived in a battleground state.

that is an incredibly myopic way of looking at things.

its ok to admit that Trump effed up when he said that.
I said that he worded it like a dumbass. He's prone to exaggeration especially when trying to flatter someone. The point is, this particular symbolic token is the civilian equivalent in a key way to the military symbolic token. They are both symbolic tokens representing the highest honor for each respective group of candidates (civilian vs military). They are similar in some ways without being the same: precisely the definition of the word "equivalent".

you know that event was back in the 90s? Trump hasn't been married to Ivana in a while.

Trump didn't even know which book he had been given, saying it was Mein Kampf. clearly not something he really studied if he doesn't know the title.

and oh yeah, he was given that book. not saying he shouldn't have thrown it away, but there is huge amount of difference in being given a book, and going and seeking a book on Hitler's speeches.

and if Trump had explained it that way, that would be reasonable. but he didn't. you are putting far more words and thought into the explanation than Trump did.

Let's face it, Trump is a disciple of Hitler.

Did you overlook the part that "from time to time he reads the book"?

They are not the same. They are similar. You literally have no concept of how words are used in the English language if you don't understand that key point.
No, they are not similar. That is ridiculous.

Click on the link that I provided in post #36,198. That recommendation process does not in any way resemble that of any civilian award.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand the latter. What’s the problem with reading Hitler’s speeches? The same can be said for Stalin or Mao. Becoming educated on the words of serial mass murderers and their acquisition of power is something freedom seekers should be familiar with.
