its not baseless in the slightest. I have been called MAGA, several other non-Trumpers have been called MAGA for expressing right leaning preferences on this forum. I can't speak for anyone else, but it happens in the real world too. just because you don't experience it doesn't mean its not out there, and relevant enough to have an impact on my life.
maybe those exact words are uttered less, but the rhetoric around the whole thing is just as bad. again wanting people to lose jobs, children, or to be reeducated because of a political difference may not be literally saying "destroying the country", but its pretty dang clear that anti-left thinking isn't very tolerated.
Luther and others have noted multiple times, very loudly, that they will do whatever, support whatever it takes to get rid of Trump. that is not a normal, oh we just disagree on the china placement. that is deep seeded hate. before the assassination attempt the language coming from the left was aggressive and leaning towards violence, that is not representative of a slight disagreement, but more indicative that you think the subject is a major threat.
how about all the calls about "threats to democracy" about those on the right? again you want to dismiss it simply because it covers Trump, but in reality you are covering more of the general right than you would ever hit with a focused "MAGA" push.
you are just attempting to define the problem into such a way there is no wiggle room to argue against it while supporting your own stance with extreme generalities.
