2024 Presidential Race

Myself and probably you as well likely wouldn’t be in America today under whatever border security you’d like to see. Say what you will about different times but Irish immigrates were allowed to walk in without any processing or seeing if they were criminals or not.
The border security I want to see is people coming in through the front door and following the process to becoming a citizen. If you don't like the process, then that is something that can be debated upon and changed legally. Coming in and breaking our laws is not what I want.

Moving goalposts? It was a question, which is yet to be answered.

The border bill was a bipartisan bill and Republicans still shot it down so they could continue to complain about the border. If it had passed it would’ve been the most sweeping immigration bill to date.
You're being disingenuous and it's clear you're just trying to troll.

Weird to complain about republicans not supporting the border bill, while also admitting you do not want a secure border

1 R senator does not make it bipartisan.

if the GOP had supported the same bill, but included language that made abortion illegal at the federal level, then all the Dems who would vote against are for open borders/weak on borders and you would support that line of attack?

They changed their opinion days before the election yes, but the month before it was the same group had it tied. I could see Harris being competitive in Iowa though.

Here is another data point for you. Harris should keep it close.

I do agree that we should avoid reading too much into the poll. I sincerely doubt Harris takes Iowa, and the 3 point lead for Harris certainly feels like an outlier. I was just emphasizing the reason this particular poll is being shared everywhere.

We are talking US politics. This ain't Europe, Central/South America, Africa or Asia.

Name those policies that support your position.
Doesn’t change the fact that America is still very center right.

My political views are basically:

Access to healthcare regardless of where your geographical location is in America.

Universal Healthcare/reformed healthcare.
But that is complicated between insurances and hospitals. But every other 1st world country has it figured out so we ought to be to as well.

Free or reformed higher education. Tuition cost is 100% out of control. I like what Tennessee has done with its free community colleges but that should be expanded. I’d really like to see free education for healthcare workers, Drs, nurses etc, as well as teachers and other public servants. Cops should be paid more but need better training as well. But the justice system as a whole needs work.

Weed should be legal.

Get big money out of politics as well as place restrictions on politicians trading stocks.

I actually do support better border security as well. Would like to see less spending on the military and military/financial aid to other countries. But I’m okay with helping out our allies when they’re in need.

Those are my biggest things off the top of my head.

Why should higher education be "free"? Somebody pays for it. Who do you think that will be if it's "free"?

Same, it’s one poll. Taking it as gospel is stupid.

Also dismissing it as fake based on some July 2020 polling is equally stupid.

Her poll released just before the 2020 election found Trump leading with 48 percent, and Biden at 41 percent. Trump won Iowa with 53 percent of the vote to Biden's 45 percent.

Only American citizens are allowed to vote in the presidential election.
California just passed a law stating that it is illegal to ask voters for ID at polling places. How are you going to prove someone is a citizen if they don't have a Driver's License or some form of ID? Non citizens can easily vote in California.

Notice I said free or reformed. Other countries have it figured out. We can too. Free for public servants and healthcare workers, reformed for other degrees.

Private universities will still exist for those that want to pay for it.

That’s the problem though, they are afraid of retribution. Medical lawsuits are no joke and no body wants their livelihood destroyed.
She was clearly having issues and Texas law had exceptions to the ban, one of which it seems fit her situation. I’m guessing there’s more to the story than we know.

Doesn’t go in effect until January so you don’t have to worry about this election. And voters are still required to have a valid ID to register to vote.

Probably true. But at the same time, how many women will be scared to seek medical attention out of fear of repercussions? How many women have to die before it an issue? America already has the highest maternal mortality rate in developed nations. This is only going to make that worse.

There is a lot of “free” there….

You keep saying “other countries”. Universal healthcare is s*** in those other countries. Tuition has always been crazy and do you know when it got worse?….when the government got involved. Free community college exists in a lot of places besides Tennessee. Do two years there and then transfer to a larger university otherwise if you sign for the loan pay the s*** back. On top of that it may be a good idea to get a degree in a field that will bring a salary to where you can pay it back.

If the Democrats proposed a border bill that perfectly fit your wants but had sweeping gun control laws at the federal level would you support it? That’s basically the same as your question.
