This was about a bad economy and poor leadership. Everyone felt lied to by the last administration. The Democrat party pissed down everyone's legs and told them it was raining. Until they couldn't cover for Biden any longer, and instead of pivoting they ran the second most responsible (in the public eyes) person for that charade.

I'm still surprised Trump won, let alone in such convincing fashion.

the issue with your argument, is that the R's kept their numbers to a similar level. it wasn't a one off jump.

Even though the Rs were less than 2020, it was within the realm of a trend rather than an outlier. outliers (Dem 2020 results) draw questions. new trends (R 2020, and R 2024) are something that can be explained.

if the Dems had followed up 2020 with similar numbers in 2024, but still lost, 2020 would look reasonable. but right now 2020 stands alone. it doesn't look like Dems can rely on 2020 results, but the Rs now have proof they can rely on 2020/2024 results. I put a lot of that at the feet of Trump so in 2028 I would expect a drop, but thats explainable....it was Trump.

unless you want to argue the Dems 2020 was because Biden was SOOOOOO popular, more than Obama, it doesn't make sense to claim Trump as the Dems boost in 2020, because in 2024 they didn't get similar results.

If she wanted to win she should have. Basically she was trying to be a younger Biden as a woman of color. People of every race, gender, etc will unite against an administration if the economic conditions are bad enough. I think that’s the main thing we saw. Idk that everyone liked Trump but they disapproved of the Biden administration; Kamala was unwilling or unable to distance herself from him. It's plausible that many people might have been more likely to mail their ballots. If the Dems actually cheated in 2020 and got away with it, they certainly would have had a plan for it this year. I have my reasons to believe it. Doesn't have to be because Trump said it. There were definitely signs of some odd things going on, maybe not definite proof, but again, logic says there's no way in Hades Biden got more votes than a very popular Obama did when he ran.
