2024 Recruiting Thread

When she was healthy the opponents tried to do exactly what you said and she still set the Lady Vols record for blocks. Trying to diminish the fact she led the country in blocks is not a good take considering that includes having to move her feet and she learned how to stay out of foul trouble which means she was also thinking the game.

First off glad Key is healthy because that's most important but hope to see the rim protector that she was because that completely changes the other teams ability to go at the rim.

Back to the point topic of this thread i think we will have some more visitors on campus very soon!
What's wild is we have our best roster in years and everyone was excited about our additions. Somehow that enthusiasm has turned into people criticizing our play before we've played as a team. vol nation cracks me up!

Truly, it's crazy how the groans of the few feels like the outcry of many. However, glad we got some people who can see the 💩 for what it is.

I am sure players tell recruits how loved and supported they are here. The new players seem to really love being LVs hopefully that translates into some commits

Johnny Majors nailed them. The Legion of the Miserable.

Facts. I haven't seen people this excited since... a year ago at this time.

People being continuously amazed at a sports fan forum being a sports fan forum cracks me up. You didn't know?

Oh yeah I knew but vol nation tends to have the most haters. 247 is nothing like VN
haters are individuals who think and believe that they know the path to success but fail to get there.
So, when an org. close to them starts nearing success they begin to display resentment and jealousy

So,,hate on, negavols
The Lady Vols will continue to get there without your input or support

Success is defined differently by each fan. Saying a fan is negative doesn’t mean they are wrong based off results or even their own upcoming expectations if they don’t meet your own criteria. To some a S16 bounce is success, to others that is mediocrity. Some fans choose to not accept mediocrity.

A S16 loss, for this org is, by my standard for a LV team, mediocrity and I do not accept it
From any coach who has been here for more than 3 years...period!
Holly caught public disdain from me because she deserved it as a TN coach
Kellie has arguably moved forward in every aspect but HS recruiting
(her overall record was worse bc of a much tougher schedule, but her conference record, the one that counts!, was better)

00 temp.jpg

At present Kellie is living/dying with a newfound ease of transfer rules in the collegiate procedure,,one in which other male-team coaches have had great success with (1-2 year recruits/transfers).
We saw the fruits of these transfers last year and will hopefully see it this year.
What I did not see was changes in coaching tactics and in-game moves...This will have to change for me to stay in full support of her...

I have to be able to say "we won because of coaching"
The first few games are for the most part fodder,,,once the SEC season begins, the team, the coach and the org must change to the new environment...I do it in exposure basketball (schedule easier tourneys early to "gel") but once I get into the games college recruiters are attending, my purpose, coaching and strategies have to go to another level...Same for this org.

Are you currently coaching a girls basketball team ?

Your comment is silly. There are no "haters" on the board, and no "negavols." There are two types
of people here--realists, like myself and few others, and a lot of naive optimists--"if we keep digging in this desert for
a few more years, everybody, we're bound to find the gold! I know it's out there!"

"Continue to get there"? Continue what? We haven't gotten anywhere. "Nearing success?" I thought we were
Final Four bound LAST YEAR? That was the word among the optimists. Whoops, no---lost to the first decent team we played in the NCAA.
Naive optimists: "Did we say last year? No, we meant this year---and if not this year, then, surely next year we'll be
that elusive 'path to success.'"

The only path we've bee on in 15+ years is a circular one. Since we are so absolutely loaded with talent this year, I hope we can all agree that this
is a monster show-me year for Harper, and that if she can't get it done we'll all acknowledge that and stop
pretending that some day things will miraculously improve. It will be time to get a new coach.

I was going to answer this now but I'm texting. And I don't think I could speak that long.

Home now and at my sitdown puter

You had me at "...myself and a few others"

Yes, we should have been a final four entrant,,,so should next year and to beyond and infinity...We improved in the SEC,,that's home turf,,,that's where it starts. I totally agree, S16 was a bomb,,,we were elite 8 minimum and final four possible.

The only path we've bee on in 15+ years is a circular one. Since we are so absolutely loaded with talent this year, I hope we can all agree that this

I have said similar words,,,after the 4th year,, the new coach is no longer the "new coach"...this is indeed a very crucial year,,,probably not to just you and me.

Only you're in an exclusive club called realist and I am just a coach

The good news for you and all the “realists” is that you can change allegiances. If the Lady Vols continue to be so terribly disappointing there are 50 other fine D1 teams that you can cheer for. You can leave all of us naive optimists to our pathetic boosterism.
I would remind you, however, that the reason everyone likes and tells the sheepdog and the sheep parable is because everyone KNOWS they are the sheep dog.

Vic has successfully recruited two top 10 2024s. He'll give SC some competition when he gets to the SEC. LSU too.
If they stay and he can develop them. Vic was very successful in the SEC the last time he was here, but he did not go after the 5-star athletes or Mcdonald's all Americans. He found talent and developed it and was very successful doing it that way.

A little food for thought in receuiting for this year. We have one guard committed. We don't really need another with one committed next year and possibly another soon. We need a post player. There are only 4 post players in the top 100. 2025 doesn't have many either. Seems every school is pursuing the same four.
