2024 Recruiting Thread

Not sure about Heckel, but she does play with Kate Koval who the Lady Vols have been showing interest in for some time and would be an amazing get for any team in the country. Long Island Luthern seems to be loaded with D-1 talent.

River said : “ Heckel … at 5’9” ! And Koval is 6’4”…… ? How could you mix them up ? 🤷‍♂️

Can anyone else confirm the players visiting?

Preston is the PG. Heckle plays PG some but can play a combo guard just like Boyd. Remember Powell is leaving after this season and Wells the season after that so we will need some PGs. I could see us picking up one in the 24,25, and 26 class

Agree with a point guard every year … and if you can get two top 20–30 ranked . There is always injuries and transfers , and multiple other problems so if you can get two good ones ! Go for it !

When did we get on Heckel ??? I don’t have her as an interested recruit …. Now she is visiting! How did this total forum not have someone mentioning her ? Just Saying
I don’t think anyone knew! I haven’t found where she has listed any offers. Talk about a quiet kid!

There's no mix up. They both play for the same high school. Koval has been a player of interest for two years. They probably noticed her very talented teammates while recruiting her. Koval is ranked 5 and Heckle 27 I do believe

I have not heard anything about Koval visiting the Lady Vols, but whoever gets her has a future Pro. She is the real deal. We offered long ago, but we don't seem to be in the mix at this point. Koval will visit LSU, Miami, and Notre Dame in September after visiting Stanford during the spring. Her numbers don't look gaudy, but she does play with hoopgurlz number 11 ranked recruit Syla Swords and number 27 Kayleigh Heckel. I think Heckel actually leads that team in scoring at over 15 points per game.

They had a write up about their high school in sports illustrated. Heckel is like the 4th player mentioned, but the piece was impressive. Their team is full of D-1 talent and here is what the article said about Heckel:

3. Kayleigh Heckel, a four-star guard in the 2024 class, transferred from Port Chester High School this season. It took her just 33 games to eclipse the 1,000-point mark in her previous program - and she was named the most valuable player running the point at the Nike TOC event. (Now considered a Grade 96 5 star player by hoopgurlz).

"She has a natural ability to control the pace of the game, control her body and she's a super, super kid," Raiti said. "She was also guarding some really good guards in that tournament."

Check out this article about their team and players: https://highschool.si.com/girls-bas...-now-highly-visible-in-girls-basketball-world

Thank you for sharing! I love seeing the recruits having a great time.

I am curious about the PGs being recruited here and am wondering what others who follow this more closely think. It seems that Heckel and Preston are both PGs, and the one recruit we have for this class (Boyd) is also a PG. I'm just curious about thoughts on this and who we're most focused on going after.
Everyone seems to be a PG in hs. Because they played that there, it doesn't mean that's what they will be in college.

Koval is on the same list as Kayleigh Heckel !😁

I don't think it wise for parents and other influential folks with a recruit to engage in dialog on these boards, but using them as PART of their analysis of each schools fanbase is clearly a valid exercise. Never know when you might have to sit by some at the games, or publicly jump on their kids after a bad stretch. Setting your expectation is just a way to create plausible deniability if it becomes a factor. They will KNOW the other common defense is true, every fan base has them, but you cannot take the RISK out of posting on a public forum, nor the responsibility if it CAN be tied through reference to the loss of a recruit or player.

Fan actions on boards CAN become facts when referenced on competitors boards or on air. Do you not think our immediate post Kiffin TRAILER TRASH reputation fanned by ESPN and others did not have a real cost? Heck how often on this site do we see the OTHER BOARDS posts? Unfortunately sometimes perception, even if false or overblown, becomes a reality. Why unnecessarily fuel the engine? Venting vs discretion is what it is, and the impact of disgruntled fans and trolls can be weighted the same to the outside world.
Much like a coaches spouse it is best to stay away. Every school has boards, every school has passion for their team. Never ends well…years ago Cromptons mom was on another pay site from the time he committed to arriving. Shortly after mistakes happened it got ugly by both sides.
