2024 Recruiting Thread

I do not think so. Kellie starts Jordan W who is 5'8" and that is generous. Kellie routinely praises Jordan W's leadership, tenacity, work ethic, and all-around great play. She knows that there are great players who are under 6'. I believe, in the end, Madi will be a LV. GBO.
And to illustrate my point further: Jordan W has more career points than Jordan H (1275 to 1261); has more career rebounds (656 to 636); has more career steals (212 to 143); and has only 26 less career assists (390 to 416). These stats show two great players--one who is 5'8" and the other who is 6'2". They complement each other. Kellie simply knows that there are great players who are under 6'. Jordan W is Exhibit A.

This isn't a knock on Walker but you do know Walker has played 148 games compared to 102 for Horston???? THat's 46 games more. Or as many as a season and a half's worth.

I have always been a fan of Jordan Walker because I cannot remember even one single game in which I wondered where her energy and thoughts were on any game day. She always brings the effort. ALWAYS.

Now, has she experienced a few spurts where she's trying a bit TOO hard to get something going that she keeps shooting threes long after it has become clear it's not her day from Tripleville? Yes. But even then I could hardly fault her because I would a hundred percent rather a player be trying to spark her team by not being afraid to take shots even when they haven't started falling than to have players who freeze up and pass the ball instead of taking open shots because they are afraid they are going to miss.

Give me that Jordan Walker who is experienced and wise enough to know that ain't no points gonna be scored if'n nobody's willing to stick their necks out to shoot it!

I am supremely proud of Jordan Walker and feel like the Lady Vol Legacy has been enhanced by her time in Knoxville. What a leader! 🧡

I do. The intent of my comment is that great players under 6' are out there and can be substantial contributors. Jordan W is one of those players as shown by her stats and as Kellie herself acknowledges. She is a great teammate and leader and is an excellent example of an LVFL. And as I also commented both Jordans are great players and teammates. My reference to their stats in no way sought to minimize either of their importance to the LVs--both are vital to the success of the LVs regardless of the fact that one is 5'8" and the other is 6'2". GBO.

well said @J-Dog 1313 and a good point @Bakers1

Henderson was about 5’6 and she was awesome…..Cooke is 5’9. There are many great WBB players under 6’ playing in the backcourt for the great P5 teams. You have to be really skilled or really athletic when you are smaller, but it is done all the time with great success.

If Walker's stats are based on her time at W Mich as well as here, it's not a fair comparison at all. Different level of competition.

I love JW's heart and brain and rejoice in her recent improvement. It's major for us right now. But historically she has not been an effective offensive player in the SEC.

I was watching Earl Boykins and Muggsy Bogues highlights earlier.

I’m not sure how the knee injury impacted her early career at UT.

Ensworth guard Jaloni Cambridge taking recruitment slow, not affected by No. 1 ranking

"Personally, Cambridge doesn’t mind the underdogs.

“For sure,” she said. “I’m not saying I’m not rooting for people who aren’t already at the top. Anything can happen in any sport. I just like the underdogs because it shows that any team can do something. I’ll go to whoever needs me.

“I’m just taking it slow. I’m in no rush. It’s cool to be able to talk to (schools). It’s not about basketball, I’m big on relationships. Getting to know that coach outside of basketball helps me see people differently.”"

she goes to my nephew’s school here in Nashville. She’s a great young lady with a great family that raised her right. So sad she isn’t interested in the Lady Vols. I watched her play as a 7th grader — definitely played better than 95% of our lady Vol roster when she was 11-12yr old.

At this point, it's hard to blame her...

We could go ahead and make Dudley off that list. Who are we in with on that list that we might actually sign is the question. Roberson? Thomas?

I have no idea who we might sign. Unfortunately, since we've gone from being ranked #4 to being unranked unless we make a strong showing in the ncaa tournament few ranked players will consider us.

What I am thinking looks like another wipeout and that is exactly what we cannot afford. I try to keep up with recruiting and I don't know one player on that list that we are close to. Last year I thought it was Booker and Samuels and that evidently wasn't true. So again here we are with another class looking like one that will disappoint us again.

Whew! I pray that’s not the case because there is no way we can afford another 2023 class, we need an elite recruiting class and we need it now!

What offense? She cant get her shot off in good games. And her minutes have been questionable to say the least. I disagree that she’s anywhere near Tess or Puckett atm. Kellie has given her many opportunities to be that spark and it hasn’t happened. She played extended minutes against LSU compared to her usual and didn’t look like she could stand on the floor tbh.

Give her time and she be a great player but it’s not the answer rn like some posters here believe just bc she has a title by her name out of high school Lmao.
Ooooo okay, I see what you’re doing here!. You just don’t like Justine huh, so me saying I’d rather have her starting than Tess, equates to Tess hate in your eyes! Gotcha!

I literally said she’ll be a good player but isn’t the answer rn…. Reading is hard. There is so much Tess hate here. Every other post is who should start over her… so if that not hate I’d hate to see what is
