2024 Recruiting Thread

LSU will have an opening for a starting PG as soon as she would arrive. SC has Raven 3 more years. Plus Fulwiley is on her way. That will impact her decision.
Must be luxury to be a SC fan right now with this level of talent and depth.

I do see her sharing a lot of Flaujae's and Reese's stuff on her social media. I think Cambridge ends up in the SEC. The question will be where... Seems most interactive with LSU/SC's programs. I don't see her going to Vandy/Kentucky despite the family connection.

Would be nice if TN can get her in for a visit but not holding my breath

LVF45,

I am seeing quite a bit of teams starting to recruit at an elite level. Most of that is due to there being way more quality players each year now as opposed to just 10 years ago, the sport is growing fast at the HS level nationally. No longer is a Uconn class head and shoulders above everyone else. That is the parity thing we all keep talking about. There used to be 3-4 teams every year that got most of the impact players. Today they are greater in numbers and going to many different schools. I don’t think a team needs to bring in 2-3 five star top 50 recruits every year to be competitive, but they have to get some of those types along with some other top 100 types each season to stay in the top 10-16 of teams. So I think there are quite a few teams doing that now. Then the success of the programs will depend on whether you hit on more of them than you miss. But you have to bring in those type ranked players in any sport to be in the thick of it. I remember SC’s last #1 class, it included Raven, Rivers, Hall and Feagin. Raven is working out after her acl injury last year, Rivers left and may still live up to her ranking, but she was/is a disappointment based upon her ranking. Hall and Feagin will be two year starters when they leave so they were good picks. But there were many players in the top 40 or so that have done really well and some that are busts so far. So you have to keep stacking those types each year and several schools have been good at picking players that are consistently very good recruits. Would not surprise me if the top 10 in WBB is constantly fluid going forward.

The system wasn't perfect back then, either. The infamous Alana Beard screwup might have cost us a couple of national championships.
There will always be players like Beard that completely fall through the cracks. IIRC, Geno whiffed on her too. I think that's harder to happen today given the prevalence of information available online.

So you're saying she would knock Angelica out of her spot? LSU signed her this year and she is a PG and the teammate to Del Rosario.

I don't think she will last there her whole career myself but she would have a year of experience at the PG and would have three years left. Not comparing their talents just saying LSU recruited a PG this past class.

I guess she would be the second PG and there is always room for her talent.

In my next life I want to come back as a talent scout because I have always had a good eye for young players I know will eventually become exceptional players IF the level of desire to have a good work ethic comes even semi-close to matching their physical potential.

What Kellie needs to be, at this point, is someone who is exceptional at spotting players who very well could be late bloomers with high potential to become the "steal of their class." I feel like she is already pretty darn good at finding diamonds in the rough, but is going to have to find a way to find some QUICK players who fit that description.

I disagree
What Kellie needs be at this point is a "closer" for all of the already-blooming recruits that have sat in TBH and ended up elsewhere

Sometimes, I think Kellie's hands are tied due to NIL...
If the big time boosters cared as much about the Lady Vols as they do about football, we’d be in business. When the top rated 8th grader requests a private meeting with the AD and specifically asks about the university’s commitment to NIL for for future potential teammates, then there’s your sign

That is the support you must have or your not going anywhere in the new reality of basketball or any sport. Has been is going to be a major factor going forward for Kellie to remain coach at Tennessee. I think she has lost recruits because on NIL and will continue to do so unless she can present exact numbers to players not just that there is opportunity.

Boom
The key in your post is that word,,,business
Start running this program as a business instead of as a possession

And quit just looking inour backyard for NIL opportunities
we have nationally known players,,why not "national NIL opportunities?"

The rules and limitations have changed drastically the last three or four years. A change in recruiting philosophy is required. Hopefully we are well down the road already. They really need to develop those resources, or get left behind.

That is not a good environment for someone who admittedly does not like change to find themselves in.

Where’s the Haslam backing for Lady Vols? This is where we miss a Joan Cronnan. Football fans love the new AD but I don’t see him doing much for LVs, particularly on the NIL front.

Might need the old guard Lady Vol “BoostHer” Club to get out of the way of deals. Instead of competing against them let them do what they are there for both male and female.
