Does anyone really know the support from NIL the lady Vols receive or they just making excuses for poor recruiting?

I honestly don’t think anyone knows, just grasping at reasons why we’re not recruiting the high school ranks well.

I don’t think any NIL info has to be public but it is pretty sure we had a great big who was very interested but we got out bid by LSU.
There has got to be a better way for kids to benefit from their hard work than just allowing schools to purchase teams. The NCAA just screwed this up horribly.

I'll put a name to it. Del Rosario and heard the same thing. I think it's been said but not every state had the same rules when it came to NIL deals and even NIL deals w/ high school students. Our recruiting has to be better and that's no secret. But some of the schools coming in to the SEC (Texas) have LOADS of money/connections for NIL deals. So now they'll get those kids that wanted to play in the SEC as well. Don't know if it'll help with their coaching though

Where’s the Haslam backing for Lady Vols? This is where we miss a Joan Cronnan. Football fans love the new AD but I don’t see him doing much for LVs, particularly on the NIL front.

I don't have first hand knowledge, but I have heard the women wanted their own collective and it has not worked out well for them. Maybe someone with better connections could verify that.

And the Haslams have a pro team for a toy now so I am not sure their involvement with the university is what it once was.

We have improved pretty much across the board in men's and women's sports since White got here. Without doing a deep dive, the women's basketball team seems to be the laggard.

Believe the last part is in play more than the support for NIL. The other side is companies want a kid that has a social media following/brand, 50K is nice but it isn’t going to get the big endorsements.

You have to target the three or four you want and go big or whatever it takes. That is just the reality now. Just rumors from more than one source that Del Rosario and Velez got big money to go to LSU. It looked like Tennessee for Del Rosario, but it all changed quickly. The information going around that LSU gave them the money they wanted. It is publicly known that some schools have offered big money to players and some are guaranteeing a certain amount to any player that plays there.

Not a rumor, Mulkey knows how the recruit. She’s been doing if for a long time and convinced kids to play at Baylor.

Also heard LSU is having trouble making good on Reese’s payout. May turn into the same situation as the Florida QB commit that asked to be released from his NLI because Florida couldn’t come up with the money to honor his deal

While it's obvious Sara is struggling and has lost a lot of confidence and doesn't look happy, I keep remembering last summer seeing an interview or TikTok or something in which she literally welled up with tears and her voice broke when talking about how much she loves Tennessee. Her best position is the four and that goes for Striplin, Franklin, Jackson, and even Horston to an extent. Just a log jam where she needs to play. She got pulled for a huge mistake on an inbounds play yesterday, but got back in and I thought played really well. I don't see her going anywhere because of what has happened this year. It is basically all on her your going to play if you help the team and make plays when your in there. That is why Striplin's minutes are expanding and really hurting Franklin's minutes.

Except he did this. When you have three competing and one is exclusive you kind of isolate yourself from the entire fan base.

Tennessee athletic director Danny White dropped a video on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, publicly supporting Spyre Sports and its Volunteer Club. He also endorsed the Lady Vol Boost Her Club, which has focused on women’s basketball and other female sports.

How’s the game day experience? Seems DW is doing his job….those Summitt Blue uniforms are nice. Never saw those under any other AD for all female sports…not to mention the football team wearing Summitt blue sleeves to honor Coach Summitt against UTM.

Old guard running or ruining LV BoostHer Club needs to fold up shop if they can’t play the game.

I can see us not wanting to get in a bidding war with them for Del Rosario and Velez. Was never that high on Velez although I think Del Rosario is going to be an excellent player. I can see NIL payments being a very weak area for Harper as well as making promises to players. Dawn and Kim won't have any problem with this and Geno already had it going long before there was Nil. There are plenty more coaches in the country that are going to be strong with the promises. I am very curious as to how this portal season works out for us. If it is not big then Tennessee is falling fast next season. I think we will know if we have any Nil strength at all with this portal recruiting season cause it is going to be different from last season with so many states passing the new Nil laws your going to need to go big.

Except that Jackson has been playing out of position at the 4 all season, with Darby at the 2 and Horston at the 3. And honestly...Jackson at the 4 is far, far superior than any other options on the current roster. Probably true for most teams out there in general, except for a handful.

I am just gong by where they are playing and who they are guarding. Jackson has played more four than any other position. Horston has played more 1 and 2 but she won't be there in the WNBA probably a three for both. As far as why Puckett isn't playing other than how she has played is that we've used Jackson at the four most of when she has played this season.

And even if they do donate to Spyre, their father played football for the General, so it would be natural for them to support football. Where are the Lady Vol alums in pushing the LV collective? You would think they'd be interested in keeping Pat's legacy alive. This isn't on Danny White. He doesn't run the collectives. IF we're losing recruits because of NIL, that's on Lady Vol supporters not supporting the collective. They can only spend the money they have. It's also on KJH. She needs to fight for her players to get what they deserve, and she needs to make it known that she needs more from the fans to keep the legacy of the LV's going. DW is there to support ALL sports, which he has done. KJH is there to run the LV basketball program.

And that's a big IF. We just don't know exactly what the NIL situation is for the LVs. Hopefully newly award-winning LV beat reporter Cora Hall will write a story on this and clear it up for us. The key question appears to be whether the split of LV NIL into its own entity is causing a problem. Maybe it's not.

KJH has fought pretty hard for the Boost Her Club, as have the players. It's very heavily promoted at games and around Knoxville. They have done tons of events, appearances, commercials, etc. They have their own store, also heavily promoted. KJH is definitely trying to keep up, that's why she hired a NIL coordinator.
