2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Ramey on VQ says it isn’t an either or situation with Dubar or Tyson. Honestly I’m getting the vibe that Rob Lewis and Ramey aren’t as plugged in to the basketball news as a lot of other people. Usually hear something from recruits before they even drop news or hints. With football recruiting at least we have a good idea of when we’re going to get a guy. It really is strange.

Perhaps the either/or isn’t Tyson and Dubar but Dubar and Milicic. Because if Awaka comes back, Mashack stays, they like where they are with Tyson and Gayle and want to hold a spot for Lanier, all of a sudden there aren’t many minutes to go around

I agree. Most of the time when they say something it’s very generalized and doesn’t offer much that we didn’t already know. I’d take SF and BTO’s word over theirs.

With the addition of Milicic to the list I would say that’s become more plausible…prior to that I said Dubar as a 4/5 and Tyson as a 3/4, Milic would also be in the 4/5 mold though.
Right, and again, I want to clarify that it wasn't my belief that the two couldn't coexist. It was my belief that one of them may feel that way. Adding IMjr would, as you said, further complicate things in that regard.

They don’t get ahead of anything, news is already out there before they comment. They don’t even hint, like Austin Price will.

Any interest in Ivisic from UK? Or is he going to Arkansas?
I think he’s almost definitely going to play overseas if the NBA thing doesn’t happen, but would go to Arkansas if not. Pretty sure his plan was to be on college ball for a year. He’s in the portal, obviously, so maybe he’s keeping options open. I’d be surprised to see him playing college ball next year.

Could also be that we're good with Saint Thomas and that's why they wanted to get Dubar on campus.

Feel like we're looking for the JJJ replacement (and potentially depth at the 5, unless Awaka returns) so a few of the guys Dubar, Thomas, Igor are all guys we're feeling out. Dubar being shorter than advertised shifted him down the list it seems.

I wouldn't discount the face to face meetings/interviews...whatever descriptor works. I would imagine fit is just as important, if not more so, than 6'5" vs 6'8".

Him being 3 inches shorter when he’s expected to play the 4 would be a huge difference. He’s smaller than Tyson is. We may not have fully passed, but could have told him to finish taking his visits and see if we can get better fits in the meantime.

B Maze gonna be mad at us again?
