What do you make in the huge drop in 3 pt. % from freshman to sophomore season? I know volume went up, but still, going from 42% to 28% is enormous. I guess the 42% freshmen season shows that he can shoot it. And Rick Barnes has been a shot doctor in the past. Maybe he can get him back up to around 36%.Yeah no doubt! Roddy is a dog like Zeigler + Mashack + Awaka. He would be a great fit!!! And athletic as all get out, would be fun seeing ZZ to Roddy in transition. With us getting a veteran stretch big (like Igor Milicic who is a dog too) and Darlinstone Dubar who is a (Schofield build) and deff no pushover - that gives us two more reliable outside shooters... And I know people doesn't think Jahmai Mashack can shoot the three, but he can and he will keep the defenders attention with his capability. I see Carr + Estrella off the bench maybe 12-15 mins each in rotation & both able to shoot the 3 with ease. And obviously Zeigler + Gainey can shoot it... Why not take Roddy... Plus he has 2 years of eligibility... We would need him in my opinion.
But in no way would we get both Lanier + Roddy... Lanier is obviously taking his time with NBA workouts and taking it seriously, as someone already said we don't want to wait too long and miss out on everyone, what if Lanier stays in the NBA draft and doesn't return ... We need a good SG in the portal - so this is a great move... And he had several 25+ points games against good competition. It's a take if I've ever seen one
Yep, I’d be surprised if anybody commits to transfer after only one visit. Since it’s mostly a money thing now (along with PT), I’d have to see the other offers. Personally I don’t buy into anything without three quotes. Nothing personal, it’s just business. That’s how we all have to look at it these days.Maybe he wants to see what other schools have to offer? See what it's like with those programs players and coaches? How can you compare when you've only been to UT?
Fans clamored for "freedom" and for kids to "get paid". When it was someone else's players entering the portal, it was all good. When our guys hit the portal, there's gnashing of teeth. When kids start chasing the dollar and making us wait, well, that's a bitter pill. The whole "VFL" thing is kind of a unicorn these days. Like you said...just bizness.Yep, I’d be surprised if anybody commits to transfer after only one visit. Since it’s mostly a money thing now (along with PT), I’d have to see the other offers. This was my concern that I mentioned with Dubar/Tyson. My fear was that they didn't believe each could coexist and get the PT and scoring opportunities they were looking for. If Tyson commits in short order, that will strengthen my belief that at least one of those two guys viewed that as an either/or proposition.Dubar left without committing and will take more visits, not usually a good sign, hope this doesn’t start a trend.
TBH I wanted both but I hope we at least get Cade Tyson now. Striking out on both would be an absolute failure. Maybe getting Tyson, Milicic jr, and Gayle is the plan now. Milicic honestly can play as a stretch 4 or an oversized wing at times. I wonder when we try and get Roddy Gayle to visit.I’ll be the first to start it…didn’t want Immanuel Quickley anyways

With the addition of Milicic to the list I would say that’s become more plausible…prior to that I said Dubar as a 4/5 and Tyson as a 3/4, Milic would also be in the 4/5 mold though. This was my concern that I mentioned with Dubar/Tyson. Tyson, Milicic, and Gayle would be solid. Hope it happens. Also, hope Lanier is still in play. If we could get Tyson, Milicic, Gayle, and Lanier I think we might take the prep big and that’s 5 spots taken out of 6 right? I think that would get us to where we could, potentially, be a dangerous team next season.I was just kidding.
I definitely want Dubar, but if it’s one of those things where it’s one or the other, I’ll take Cade with multiple seasons.
If anything, and we land Igor, just put him at 4.
After watching film on Milicic I was honestly thinking the same thing. I like his mobility at 6’10” and his shot better than Dubar’s. IF we can get Milicic. Does anybody have a feel on what Tyson will do?With the addition of Milicic to the list I would say that’s become more plausible…prior to that I said Dubar as a 4/5 and Tyson as a 3/4, Milic would also be in the 4/5 mold though.
