2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Many of Awaka’s fouls in the games I watched were being aggressive going for offensive rebounds. He does commit some silly ones but these were a lot of them. Can’t really fault him too much for being aggressive on the glass. People who act like he doesn’t add value to this team seem to be shortsighted imo.

We can also take BJ Freeman off the list, he’s got 4 visits lined up, we didn’t get one.

Guess anything can change, but I’d say that’s all she wrote for that one.

I’ve seen rumors that Knecht got 1mil. If that’s been out there then obviously I haven’t been paying attention, if not, then that’s the rumor. If true, that’s still too much imo

But that’s also coming from petty UNC fans.

I'll happily spend a milli of other people's money for DK

I wish players could be capped on how much they can make. May sound petty, and I may not be thinking of all the other variables (I’m not LOL) but I feel like it would create a more even playing field.

I think doing anything like that is a losing battle now. If the NCAA had accepted NIL being an eventual reality and prepared for it, instead of fighting it, perhaps it would have been different and better regulated.

Waiting for the Supreme Court to tell you 9-0 that you need to implement NIL was a horrendously bad strategy.

The variable you aren’t thinking about is that NIL can’t be capped. Can’t limit what players can make under those agreements. Could do it if they eventually go to player contracts with the school but then it might as well be NFL Jr. The portal is the thing that needs regulating but then I read an article this morning that there is a proposal in front of the NCAA to allow unlimited transfers. Talk about a worse mess if that happens.

Rumors IU dropped over 1.5 mill for him

I can believe it's a big number--why else go to a program that's not been a contender for years. Take the money
and transfer somewhere else next year?

Sotheby's should take a day and host the top 50 portal players, invite reps
from 50 majors, bring the players up one at time and start the bidding:

"Mr. Cleaverly is a rising 6'7 forward from Creighton by way of Eastern Michigan. He averaged 21 minutes of playing time last year, 12.2 points per game, 5 rebounds, 2 turnovers. Missed 3 games with an ankle injury, said to be fully recovered. Efficiency rating of 11.
Likes playing video games in his spare time and is majoring in basketball. Let's start the bidding at $30,000...."
