2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Lol. The delusional comments by UK fans here in the thread is hilarious.

I mean what do they think we’re going to have him do? Just sit in a gym and stare up at old banners?? lol. That’s all they keep mentioning. “We have no final fours so here are some cookies.” Lol. They’re absolute morons. What do they think he did at Kentucky? Just sit on campus? lol. I’ve been to Lexington and Knoxville and while I’m a little biased I believe there is waaayyy more to do in Knoxville than there is in Kentucky. He’s also from Tennessee, Rick Barnes has a proven track record, and I’m sure our NIL isn’t shabby.

This is one of the multiple businesses lined up with Spyre who will be part of his NIL deal, meeting them and putting names with faces is pretty common. They didn’t just randomly decide to go to a cookie place.

Just one of the many reasons Kentucky fans are ignorant lol. They don’t think about things like that. All they do is just mention final 4s when they haven’t made it out of the second weekend in 5+ years.

If we get him, fans will FLOCK to a cookie store to meet Chaz--and they'll have to hurry, because this, ahem, student/athlete will be gone in 9 months.

I figured as much. First thing that came to my mind when I saw it was NIL sponsorship. But of course UK fans laughed at him going to a cookie store lol.

I love the move. Adds a little pressure to commit then just talk about it. Smart move

They had Matt Jones drive him around, stopped at Rupps grave for a quick worship service, then Pope took him to Gattiland. It’s a step up from the Cal era where recurring visits were just watching film of the NBA draft.

Will you be first in line to meet Lanier at cookie store?

Probably not me I despise cookies.

It was hard to choose between Igor and Lanier as the leading scorer. ZZ will get his 10-11 points but if he’s our leading scorer, we’re in trouble.

I’m really really really really really high on Igor. Not many 6’10 dudes that can move like him while having the handling he does
I think Zeigler's ppg average will go up a smidge and he will be a bit more offensive minded next year, but you are correct.....if he is our leading scorer we are in trouble. If he gets that floater in the lane more consistent, at least one more bucket per game at least for ZZ. Otherwise I would expect either Lanier (if he signs) or Dubar to lead us in scoring. Folks forget that Dubar has been a double figure and efficient scorer for 3 years. I think his offensive game will translate to the SEC even though he has a bit of a wind-up on this shot on the perimeter. Dupar's overall shot distribution is more evenly weighted than either Lanier or Igor. He gets shot off early in the paint and it goes in at high rate, albeit it looks somewhat awkward from clips. But I don't see us running the same offense we did for DK with Dubar. Lanier or Carr and maybe Igor could run off screens and bury long jumpers but Dubar seems more of a stationary player and someone to kick the ball to off dribble penetration or rotate to on the weak side.

Dupar very well may be our best offensive post player next year, which shows somewhat how much we lack in the post. Okpara is big athlete who can dunk everything but raw. Estrella I think has alot of upside in the post, yet unproven. Will be more balanced offensively next year but finding that one guy (other than ZZ) who is willing to take big shots in big moments will be important. Knecht lived for those moments.

With more depth, if we continue to push tempo, I can see alot of secondary breaks ending up with a 3 pointer by Lanier, Dubar, Igor, Carr, Gainey or Zeigler. That is alot of shooters and Mashack has improved a ton as well. May very well be a "live by the 3, die by the 3" type of team without a post if we don't have anyone who will attack and finish at the rim. Playing more in the open floor with more spacing would benefit Lanier in my opinion. Hope we can sign him, but we may already have a guy in Carr that needs alot more minutes. Carr could be our best wing and we don't even consider it.

Maybe I shouldn’t rely so much on highlight reels, but to my eye Okpara appears markedly more aggressive, energetic and confident around the rim than Aidoo. Would you agree?

That’s 73.5 ppg. If the rest of the bench averages 6.5, we’re at 80.

No Cam Carr?
I think Gainey averages more than 6.0 a game. At least 8-10. I hope. I look to see more balance scoring this fall. I hope. And yes Cam should get more PT. I wished coach had played him more this past season.
